How do you get word from associated press? I'm wondering because I'd like to know if there are any in my area that the parks are closed or not. However, I'm not sure we have any major parks in my area, Allen.
I hope this helps:

I found an app for my phone with the AP feed

?AP News on the App*Store

AP News - Apps on Google Play

the story had information on some national parks not all

you might try these

Thanks Allen. I don't do net on my phone. And yes, it's a smartphone but I prefer to keep it off the net. I have a computer for that stuff.

They might if I had Windows 10 but as of now, I'm still on Windows 7 until next week when I've built the new computer.

well, the visitors will not include us

problems with social distancing, crowded lodges, air ports and planes

my age and " pre existing conditions "

we will have to stay home this year

Sorry to hear that. But we are the same. Regardless of what is open we are grounded for this year. At least until fall and then we will reevaluate. Places like Yellowstone, Yosemite, Disney etc attract people from all over the world and are an ideal petri dish for disease spread. I'm just going to shoot local this year.

Judy and I will be heading back to Yellowstone June 3 and leaving June 10 2020

we will fly into Jackson, spend the night and head to Lake Yellowstone ( Sandpiper Lodge ) then Canyon, then Roosevelt Lodge and end up at the Old House/Old Faithful Inn, then fly out from Jackson

we will be renting an SUV

my 3rd trip, her 2nd

if anyone happens to be in the Park at that time and wants to say hello, please let me know

we tend to concentrate on wildlife as oppose to the hot springs and geysers and we definitely not the type to go into the back country

--------------

I've learned to say this when I stop and talk to people who have pulled over:

" yep, if we had been here 5 minutes ago, the wolf and cub would have been on that side of the road and the mountain lion on the other

and 5 minutes after we leave, they will be back "

in other words, wildlife has its own schedule and you may not get lucky when you look for it.

That's interesting. That notice is for The Lodge at the Park. The actual Yellowstone Park still has no information on its web page about any opening date....
Hopefully, the Park itself will open a bit sooner.

actually the notice is from the official site for those who want to make reservations to stay at the lodges/camp sites inside the park

of course the Park is accessible without staying in the Park so perhaps the Park itself might become open before the date noted

and visitors would have to enter and exit the park without spending the night

our reservations to stay inside the park, now cancelled, started June 3, 2020 and ended a week later so we couldn't have kept them if we wanted to

Alan,
That's what I was getting at. Normally the Park opens well before the Lodge does. Since the actual Park has made no announcement (their last notice is when they closed March 24th)
see - Yellowstone National Park (U.S. National Park Service)

I'm hoping the Park may open sooner so I can get in. Since the overseas travel restrictions are in place and the 2 week out of state visitor quarantine is in place, the Park should be a lot more photographer friendly...

the more I read your comment, that is what I started to understand

I'm just wondering about the capacity of the lodging outside of the Park to accommodate those who want to enter the park when the lodging is not open ?

Alan,
There are many hotels in West Yellowstone which is located at the West Yellowstone, MT gate. There is a brand new hotel here in Big Sky - The Wilson (part of Marriott) that puts you 45min from the West gate.
Big Sky Lodgings | Residence Inn Big Sky/The Wilson Hotel.
A number of hotels at the Gardiner entrance as well.
Since the tour buses will not be filling the hotels, I expect there will be some space.
Don
