There have been quite a few in the top half too. The day before the rain started back in July that kept going until we had the biggest flood on record, I went tramping/mountain biking with my daughter, and when we got to the hut, there was frost all around at 4pm, and there was a frozen bottle of detergent in the hut. I'm pretty sure detergent has a lower freezing point than water, so that's a pretty good indication of chilly temperatures.
The track in had frost in many places too.
The next morning, it was overcast, but my daughter still found lots of bits of ice in the river to play with.
I did check the forecast, and timed things perfectly, so the rain only started falling part way back to the car, and it was only fairly modest by the time we were driving out, but I think we'll be the last people to visit that hut for some months, as the access road has been out for over a month now, even without lockdown to delay repairs, and who know what state the track is in?
The river went from 10 cumecs when we were there to a peak of over 350 cumecs a bit over 48 hours later.
