Very happy this evening. Finally on leave from mid-afternoon through to early January

My K-3 III back LCD monitor wasn't displaying, which I knew would just be a bumped settling in the bag while travelling, but a bit frustrating while using the camera. I had time this evening to sit down with the manual and work out what setting it was, then accessed it via live-view and the K-3 III is now back to where it should be set-up wise. The LCD monitor now displaying as I like it to.

So, now I am all set for some enjoyable photography over the break.

Wishing you and your families all a very Happy Christmas and New Year.

Ross

Merry Chrissy to you lot. Looks like more of the same weather wise. Which makes for some lovely relaxing days - great for photography.
Leave ya with a passing thought.

Na...an airbrush. That's why it's nice and soft, no sharp edges.

Hehe. I've got one, so I know.

Merry Christmas everyone.
I got to enjoy some freshwater crayfish - thanks to the DA 55-300. (I tried the underwater Olympus, but they were too shy to get close enough.)
It was a bit of a surprise to see them so close to town.

It turns out the answer to this is ME!

I have finally found a decent workaround to my scanner problems, so yesterday I decided to get back into scanning my grandfather's slides. I moved the books that were on top of the slide box... and there was the DCU 5 CD.

Another trip into Zealandia this morning. My ninth visit of the year. Not a great result on the birds, but while standing near the wetland looking for any waterfowl, I noticed there were heaps of damselflies buzzing around the reeds. I have to say I am quite pleased with this shot!

Very nice image!

The 55-300 PLM really performs, I would have to say. Thanks for sharing this.

I clicked through to your Flickr and looked at your EXIF data, just because I was interested in the lens and settings. A small reminder to update your copyright settings.

Oops! Not only the wrong year, but at odds with the licensing info on Flickr and, indeed, baked into the image. I think I need to look at stripping out a lot of that info, too. There's way too much junk in there.

Speaking of EXIF, after processing today's photos I have reduced my floating ISO cap back to 6400. That may mean I miss some shots due to too slow a shutter speed, but the noise is really rather an effort to tame at 12800. The published results look OK, but at full size they were significantly worse looking. I think next time I might drop down to f/6.7 for the shots in the bush to get an extra stop that way. It won't rob me of much DOF at the distances I'm dealing with.

Edit: I've been mulling doing things the other way for a while, and now have. I'd missed putting my watermark on two of the images, so re-did all of them with full ©.
