One of the advantages of living in Timaru is it is only 2.5 hours to Aoraki/Mt Cook which makes it a day trip from home.

It was a stunning day in the Mackenzie and up at Aoraki/Mt Cook. The 55-300PLM at f11 doesn't disappoint.
And it's even closer to Lake Alexandrina-

A (hand held) nine-shot panorama taken at dusk from the decking in front of The Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands, Singapore. I had forgotten I took these shots (in 2019) with a panorama in mind and had published one of the component images in its own right.

RAW files converted individually in DxO PhotoLab 6. Panorama stitching and some warp control in Affinity Photo 2 — which did a fantastic stitching job. Final colour and output to 15 megapixel JPEG in DxO PhotoLab 6.

It's a +1 from me. Lovely image Allister. I'm particularly fond of a panorama stitch.

And another. 11 hand-held shots, same tools. Not the same impact, and I think everyone here knows exactly where it is.

Lovely shot. I'm surprised how long that "lake" has stayed in existence.

That was taken in August 2016. I assumed it comes and goes with the seasons, though I was able to place it on the map thanks to it being visible in Apple Maps' and Google Maps' satellite views.

Aha! Caught me there!
Yes, it usually goes by summer, although this year it's still there!

Stay safe, everyone. Don't be the kite surfers I just saw on a video clip..
Those are some big waves in Northland.

All modern Pentax cameras are 'weather sealed', but I'm not sure if that means cyclone proof, and I'm not terribly keen to find out.

A new project from me. My aviation photography blog turned 15 years old this month, which spurred the idea for another topic-specific site.

Nice. I've discovered acquiring a dog has been good for both bird and aviation photography. The safest place to take her for a walk near home where she doesn't escape into farm paddocks or try to herd cyclists is along the bank of the Taylor River behind Omaka Airfield where Classic Fighters is held. There are some quite good natural history opportunities there, although my little Olympus P&S is getting quite a bit of work with freshwater fish and invertebrates, but the K-70 is best for birds and planes, and the walking track passes right near the landing flightpath for Omaka.
I get exercise, the dog gets exercise, and I get to do some photography.
Here's something aeronautical from the weekend.
