Na been there tried that. Got a condenser here from a lpl 6x7 enlarger. 120mm wide. forget what I guessed the focal length at but it had a theoretical aperture of around f0.7! Fitted snuggly inside one of those 50 cd disc bulk containers -- painted the container and drilled a hole and stuck a D to Q adapter onto it. Rough as job to see whether to persevere. It was incredibly low contrast with barely an image and the practical aperture was more like f2 I guess mainly coz so much of the light was dispersed into the wrong corners. Looked funny as tho - sort of like a glass paperweight stuck to the Q.
Your description means my assumption was correct

Bit embarrasing actually but after looking at the closing time for a TM, had to google whether 12.00pm is noon or midnite. Guess ya all knew.

Take your eye from that Q for a cautionary tale....(what happens when the wind changes whilst you have you eye to the viewfinder of a Q with huge homebrew lens....you end up working in a bookstore..)

Watches are bloody dangerous, last wore one in '75....got up in time for an 8am lecture,
inserted my RD350 into the front of a Mk3 Zephyr on the way,
and the left leg has been 45mm short ever since.
Don't wear watches Guys

The missus has to drive down and pick him up at the other end of the hill in the evening.
