I might keep an eye on that. After the mediocre results last Saturday night in a low light indoors setting with the 18-50 lens, I should look at another prime lens.
I never knew Wanganui had so much night life.

That's Waverley right? I stopped at that Café coming back from the All Blacks match a month or so back.

Is this the same lens as the other smc 28mm lens. Hold on, just found my answer. One is an A, that means MF only?.

A variation of Murphys Law is alive and kicking.

Yeah but focusing 28mm is a breeze. Aparently the F and the A are the same design (as possibly the Tak bayonet is) so I would go for the A for the decent focus ring. I have gone to using the A rather than the Tak Bayonet I have solely because the f stop is recorded in the exif (useful to know at times).

Yep - the bright lights of Waverley - my home town. Intend to do a bit more photography there - there is that nice backwater look to the place.

Is a funny place, in that the main road goes directly down one side of the town. I expect that might be a bit unusual?

Thats true - Historically the road lay along the edge of the bush (to the north) and fernlands to the south with a distinct change in soil types. The land to the south of town is sandier and more broken so probably it was commonsense to develop on the richer land to the north.

Go mirrorless. Digital zoom and focus peaking, in a viewfinder is the ideal for manual focus work.

Speaking of budgets.

I'm not convinced I'm going to part with anything yet, but if I were to consider as potentially surplus the K-5, DA 55-300 ED, and F 35-70 ... which would be the best combo for both interest in the package, and value for me?

K-5 + F 35-70
K-5 + DA 55-300
K-5 + F 35-70 + DA 55-300

I think just the K-5 body on its own would be a bad idea. The other option is to pick up a cheap kit 18-55 to stick on or add to one of the above packages.
