Teleconverters, Tubes etc. Pros and cons listed here seem to suggest there's no cheap easy substitute to having the right lens for the job.
Yeah I would agree with that for teleconverters - sticking more glass in the path doesn't do anything for image IQ. But tubes are a different matter : they are for the specific purpose of focusing closer than the simple lens and optically they do not compromise the image. But also I can see no use for AF and little use for metering when you are in this close up realm. Better going for simple old manual tubes.

LBA continues with FA43 incoming. Looks like the smc50/1:1.2 is on the block as a result :-)

Nice, I will be quite interested to hear how you rate the FA43 once you have used it for a bit

if you guys are ever in need a someone in the UK to ship you down something let me know. Ive gone on a bit of a shopping spree. Picked up DA15mm limited and a tamron 70-200m f2.8 from france. mint. selling off the 55-300 and the fisheye 10-17. Pentax stuff is still expensive here in the uk, when you convert i to NZD, but if you ignore that and just consider the actual number it looks cheaper in pounds haha. Only just tricking myself.

Don't know why you bother Pete - After all you can use the bottom of a milk bottle and it comes up good on the K1 !!.
Having said that found something interesting tonight. Only one on fleabay and it is Nonik MT for NZ$300 plus courier.

yer, the corners on the DA40 have assumed bottle bottom softness it seems
is there some secret dark side of TM you snag those things ?

What would you use one of these for? A 300mm spotting scope.

In the 70's and 80's, it was possible to buy adapters that attached to the back of lenses and were capable of accepting standard telescope eyepieces.

Normally i would completely agree, better to go manual than AF when that close, but unfortunately my customer does not have the best eyesight anymore and requires AF

With shipping and fees
the Da 15 ltd came out to 550NZD
Tamron 7-200 660NZD

only now that I have converted it to nzd, i've realized how much i just spent on two lenses haha.

With shipping to NZ and getting the duty charges it would add up. But there are some good deals floating on Ebay at the moment for europe. and things can be shipped without duty in Europe to England.

Now at the this point can't get any more. Sold my 55-300 and trying to sell the fisheye. Hopefully my kit will be simple now. Da15mm, Sigma 17-50, Tamron 70-200 and Pentax M 50 Macro. Hopefully thats enough for the time being.

There is a lot of Canon stuff on sale here in the UK and I had been debating a switch to get access to that increased market. But opted to double down and Pentax get some good glass and hang in there. Excited for the Tamron to come. Going to be big and heavy but high hopes for quality.

55-300mm never did it for me, I think I have a bad copy. On to the next glass
