350 Birdman at Wellington Waterfront - Mukuna
Looks like pilots at both events will get a dousing. I'm flagging Saturday. Might consider Sunday if the forecast improves in the next 24 hours.

Shame. Will be the first one I've missed since 1999.

I will try hard not to feel hard done by. Went to a show at Nellis AFB, Las Vegas in 2007, and that was a real air show. Somehow I think the Raptor has it all over a Tiger Moth.

Oh, I don't know. I sure enjoyed the two UK air shows I made it to in 1999 and 2001, but that doesn't detract from the local stuff. No jet will ever sound as good as a Merlin-powered WWII fighter.

Sounds like I missed out on the best of the two days today. Stupid Met Service.

Played with studio lights a while ago. The model was fantastic.
That is a very good photo. I like the light, mood and the contact you have with the model. Great.

Thanks a lot!

I might have better luck here if she were a plane.

Thanks a lot for the kind comment! I love when I luck out and get a nice image and are happy about it by myself but is very rewarding to get nice feedback.

Arpe, you and others might be interested in these sports shots taken with a K-5 and a Sigma 70-200 HSM.

Transit pointed me to them and I thought you might like to see the high ISO and AF performance.

Cheers. I probably would buy that combo IF there was a fully compatible guaranteed working 1.4x TC. Unbloodybelievable that Pentax, or even Sigma, don't make one.

And yes, that portrait's a great shot.

Have you tried writing to Sigma? I once had a quick and very good response from them. I have no overseas trip planned at the moment, otherwise I would have offered to check out a shop.

For those in or around Wellington in a bit under two weeks, on the 10th Feb I'll be talking to WPS about street photography, and the next day have an exhibition starting at Photospace gallery which runs till March 5th, which is also of street photography. There's also an opening for that and another exhibition at Photospace on the night of the 11th.

Anyone is more than welcome at the WPS meeting, or the exhibition, or both.

Cheers.

EDIT: Oh and I'll be bringing a lot of interesting books to the WPS evening as well.

No. Can't be arsed pissing about waiting etc. for one to turn up even if they say they're working on it.

Congrats on the exhibition Camus, I'll try to find that place.
