I have one, and found it really good for traveling with.

Pricing on this one isn't too bad given it is as-new.

I don't know is i should thank you or otherwise for pointing me to this trade NZ_Ross. I resisted manfully for the duration that auction but when it was re-listed I succumbed and got it. It is as described and indistinguishable from new so I'm happy. Additionally the seller was very forthcoming about its history which helps a lot. It makes a great partner for the DA*50-135 and I really like them both. The only cloud is the possibility of SDM failure but the 50-135 is still going strong and looking positively if 10% fail that means 90% don't.

I haven't been very active for the last couple of years with events in Christchurch here and other things going on but the time has come to become more involved again; so aside from getting this lens I've also recently bought a new K5 at what seemed a good price and that is a camera I really do like.

Class A,, I had a quick look at my early posts and profile and see I joined in January 2008 as a member of the original group, when you set up this thread I was the third posting! Hopefully there will be a few more now.

Cheers

Yes !!!
Annoyingly I have had visitors and though it was tempting to tell them to naff off
as I wanted to fit a finely crafted bespoke alloy ring to the huge Russian tank shell on the tripod on the other side of the room...
I resisted
So shall we start with the pre-unboxing ?
Well the pre-uneveloping really....
Glad to see the Post can still function without surnames or h's

The reveal !!!
Just need to get this blinking Pentax to focus...

ah ...that's it
Precious !!!

The hard questions first eh ?
The golden ring slips sweetly on the back of my Tair 300/4.5 to give a notch for the Pentax pin to locate into.
Thusly, I can fit the M42 adapter permanently with retaining clip removed !
Thanks to the generous turning of JH

Red River promo

Just entered the win a DA50mm promo and ended up buying paper and ink. 4 x cli8 canon inks and 50 sheets of 8.5 x 11 inch metallic paper landed for about $100NZ if all goes well. The inks alone are about $135 in NZ.
Are you guys dedicated printers or are you happy with the screen?

I'm very happy with my screen, it's a good one.

Seriously, I'm usually not that thrilled with my pics that I want to spend money on seeing them printed, however, I recently did a photo album and that was not only fun, but also ended up looking great. It was a gift and the recipient was delighted.

I used Harvey Norman because they had a good offer and I wanted to check them out (after having seen a Momento book that looked really bad; may have been the sources, it wasn't mine). Guess what, the quality was great (sharp prints, no colour casts, very good binding, no unwanted margins) and the price unbeatable.

I can fully recommend the whole experience, I'll do another one soon.

My sister uses frogprints and they are pretty good. I have been experimenting my doing my own binding (perfect binding as in paper backs) and am pleased with results. Hence wanting the 2 sided paper the other day. I think home printing on quality paper is a step ahead in results although the inks are possibly not as archival.

This would be my answer currently...
another blessed jpg
This Tair is quite a piece of optics, bright enough to focus easily stopped down to 5.6 and leave it in Av
Too short for birdies of course so this is a big crop...
The background was very busy and overlit, that's about as messy as it gets
but better background and the pop is amazing. Thing I'm particularly pleased with is the low CA
hardly any green fringe in the background, while that purple on the reflecting staple is as bad as it gets.
The bespoke ring mentioned earlier is onboard but spinning free, as it were, while the drilling subbie is engaged
A terrible clever plan is afoot to use a spare Kmount female as the Pentax pin slot template...not brain dead yet eh

I really like how painterly the tones are with it. I think low ca must be a gift to sharpness ?
so then all yer wee pixels are more discrete and thus tonal depth ensues ...or not ?

Working on a new hood, the pvc drainpipe is a perfect sleeve fit on filter...
double the length over the plumbing fitting, might line it with corduroy
