But that's a sports photo - can't do that with Pentax!!

Hope you got compensated accordingly for the pic. Even the local rags have a budget for that.
I'll ask the Cricket guy who wanted to grab my sd card

The sky tonight, reminded me of coal embers in the fireplace. At first I didn't like the power poles in the 2nd picture, but after looking at it for a while, decided they add something to the scene.

I was glad they didn't print this one, poor kid !
My old school too lost 64 to 95 to some private outfit
The shocking PP is how I gave it to the paper, newsprint seems to suck the life out of pics.

cropped from below. I can see why the K-3 could be better but 16MPickles still seems to go a long way.

They look okay. Re newsprint, I sent a beautiful sunrise photo into the local rag once. On the newsprint it looked absolutely terrible. I'll never do that again.
Dust,, I'm taking the camera into Snapshot tomorrow to give the sensor a wash & wax. No, I don't have the cleaning gear, wouldn't know if I'd done the job properly, and even if it means paying a few bob, I'm sure they will do a far better job than me.

Which begs a question. Should the sensor be given a periodic clean (maintenance), or do you wait till the photos look like a sand storm?

I could be wrong, but I think you can do it yourself pretty easily. I bought a proper cleaning kit off ebay for 25 bucks. Came with ten individually sealed cleaning sticks (not sure what they are called) but you can purchase for your sensor size. All you do is add a few drops to the stick and wipe the sensor one direction one time, Don't reuse the same stick twice.

I have done it twice in the last 8 months, and only did it if my lens blower didn't do the job or if I was having to do too many touch ups in post. I bet a good few pumps from the blower would do the job.

I did notice since the last cleaning a few months back I haven't had any new dust and i think that was because I never turned my camera off when I changed lenses. Apparently its statically charge and attracts dust if you do that. Since then no dust problems.

I am waiting for a shipping price from Aussie to NZ for a 18-55 WR lens. Almost nothing available here, in my price range.

I am fortunate that CW Services are here in Timaru. They do a lot of camera and lens repairs from all around NZ. I have found that my sensor needs a clean about once a year, and get them to do that.

I could sell you a red 18-55 WR kit lens. Don't really use it. But it is red and optically fine.

I have recently scratched my K30 sensor with a wet swab - of course it is up in the blue sky area!!. Now have bought a static brush from Amazon amazon.com : Movo Photo MV-B100 Motorized Static-Charged Sensor Cleaning Brush with 4 Bright LED&?tag=pentaxforums-20's for DSLR's, Mirrorless Cameras & Lenses : Camera & Photo - it works a treat - will never swab my sensor again hopefully.
