Yes, someone is going to get seriously injured or killed in there if they don't sort it out soon.

I found this an interesting thread. A few don't like the older prime lenses. After seeing GUB's night photos, I have opened the bidding on a PENTAX F, F28mm 2.8 AF lens.

There was a couple of comments there on the Tak 50 1.4s being bland and yes they have been a bit much the "lens to have" and trendy rather than a practical beginner lens. I sense a difference between my Sup tak ones (a 7 element and an 8 element) and the later ones - even my S-M-C taks. Trouble is I have done a comparison test on the 50s I have and objectively they are all pretty well identical!!. But in life your experience with a lens is a very emotional thing and often you are swayed if the first shot happens to be a hummer - that lens can do no wrong ever again!!.

I've never actually met a 50 1.4 that I especially liked (mainly ergonomics) - and conversely I've met very few 50 1.7, 1.8 or 2.0 lenses which I didn't like in any brand (again more ergonomics rather than image quality),

I have an especial disdain for the canon 50mm 1.4 - most canon people seem to think it's amazing.

I mentioned that one a page or two back. I imported one for over a hundred more so good luck. Very happy with it as my FF DA21 replacement

I'm not one for bidding early. It just raises the competition. People search items with bids. When bids are placed, everyone watching gets a notice as well.
If I'm around, I usually only bid just outside 2 mins to go. Any other bid within the 2 min starts the 2 min clock again.

I think if two people are after the same lens, they will chase it anyway. The problem with bidding early as I've done and reaching reserve is then I find a better deal and have to hope like hell that I get outbid on the original auction.

I will be interested in what you think. I did the same thing when I brought my 55-300 WR and before I sold the previous 55-300 - from memory there wasn't much in it, with perhaps the newer 55-300 WR being marginally better IQ.

I also switched from the K5 to the K3 at the same time, and that was a much bigger change in terms of focus speed and accuracy for the 55-300. It used to hunt for focus much more on the K5. I am sure you have noticed the same behaviour on your KP vs the K5
I've not used the KP enough yet in my normal situations to form an opinion. Hopefully this nicer weather is going to play ball for a while and I may have some more chances... although of course... I shouldn't let rain stop me now!!

And another - starting to seriously like this camera.
Cracker images GUB! Really loving the colour in those.

What would I gain going from a K50 to a K5 using my existing lenses?. Both cameras are from the same era roughly although the K5 is a higher level camera.

Perusing ebay.au now. Some reasonable and some ridiculous prices being asked.
I have a K-5 sitting on a shelf if you are tempted, or even if you'd like to borrow to give it a spin. I'm just down the road in Tawa if you're heading by.
