Originally posted by awa355 Ross, I'm sorry that the big lens needs work. As I mentioned at the time, the chap who owned the lens, Phil Brown died last January. This week in the Te Awamutu library there is an exhibition of his work as a photographer. I am going up this morning to have a look.
Here is a link to the newspaper article from today's edition. I hope it will open, page three. He was a Pentax man right from the start. This might give you a bit of history behind the lens.
Thanks for the link, and yes it did open ok. Nice to read about Phil, and what he did.
With regard to the lens, no need to be sorry - I knew it had faults when I brought it, and what needs fixing is relatively minor. It is just a matter of sourcing or making the piece required. Once that is done it will be fully functioning and at a very reasonable price. So I am happy, and still very thankful that you took the time to check it for me before purchase, that gave me enough information to bid.
I have taken photos with it, and tested it - so I know what works and how good it is, I just decided to get it fixed so that then it is good for a long time to come.
Cheers
Ross
