I had a couple of interesting lessons with my KP in the last week.
First, I was able to come up with a recognisable, if not a quality shot of a really interesting aircraft over my house only because of the extreme ISO performance available — it was 5:53 pm. I quickly flicked the auto-ISO to top out at 25600 with my 18-135mm pushed right to 135mm at f/5.6 and managed a barely acceptable 1/30 shutter speed. The noise was fairly intense, but there's enough detail to see what it was even after over-doing the noise reduction in LR.
The second thing I learned... well... was actually not to play with settings and then forget about them. I was out at the airport shooting away and noticing (but not really thinking too hard about) an odd shutter behaviour, where every release sounded like 1/3 or so when the data was clearly showing a sprightly 1/750. It eventually dawned on me I was using the electronic shutter. Turns out (and it's obvious if I think about it) that it's not the best choice for a moving, propeller-driven aircraft.
In addition to the rather wild looking propeller blades, the poles in the background are not as you might expect — even with Wellington's wind. That shot was 1/500 with a moderate pan (not that fast an aircraft and a significant angle from abeam.
Needless to say, I now have mechanical shutter set again.

Nice pics, but I particularly love the gritty tone of the car & aircraft.
