Haha, Not for well-heeled A7r3 user it seems. Hazy videos with flares in 4K is all the rage at the moment.

Hiya T,
My apologies for the delay in replying, got called away for a family situation and have only just seen the message. It is a M42 to K mount adapter... great for all those old Taks on a K-1......
cheers for that, I've got a few of them.
Good reminder about Taks on K-1, must do it

Ignoring the price - I have one of those (unmodified - they've basically broken that one).
It was my very first lens on an old zenit, to this day it's one of my favorite full frame lenses ever. Does all kinds of really fun stuff wide open, and it's flat & sharp then stopped to f8 or so.

Yes I have a few of them - 44 , 44-2 44-4 44-7 . I prefer the earlier ones and although they are quite proficient and characterfull they really should stay as cheapies. This one probably now doesn't have an iris - worth very little. Funny thing is there is not many coming through TM anymore like we have sort of run out of them. I guess most of the old Zenits headed for the rubbish tins years ago.

yep, Mine was a mid 70's model (though I got it 25-30 years later), and yes, it isn't worth a heck of a lot of money (I paid about $10 with a zenit body & a 135mm 2.8 thrown in for free).
It's not a top flight lens by any stretch, and each one is different. That person taking out the aperture basically destroyed that lens for actual use.

I've picked up a few in junk stores over the past few years for $5-10 a throw, so they're still out there, mainly given them away - they aren't worth the $80-100 that people seem to want on tm.

I had a couple of interesting lessons with my KP in the last week.

First, I was able to come up with a recognisable, if not a quality shot of a really interesting aircraft over my house only because of the extreme ISO performance available — it was 5:53 pm. I quickly flicked the auto-ISO to top out at 25600 with my 18-135mm pushed right to 135mm at f/5.6 and managed a barely acceptable 1/30 shutter speed. The noise was fairly intense, but there's enough detail to see what it was even after over-doing the noise reduction in LR.

The second thing I learned... well... was actually not to play with settings and then forget about them. I was out at the airport shooting away and noticing (but not really thinking too hard about) an odd shutter behaviour, where every release sounded like 1/3 or so when the data was clearly showing a sprightly 1/750. It eventually dawned on me I was using the electronic shutter. Turns out (and it's obvious if I think about it) that it's not the best choice for a moving, propeller-driven aircraft.

In addition to the rather wild looking propeller blades, the poles in the background are not as you might expect — even with Wellington's wind. That shot was 1/500 with a moderate pan (not that fast an aircraft and a significant angle from abeam.

Needless to say, I now have mechanical shutter set again.

Nice pics, but I particularly love the gritty tone of the car & aircraft.

Nice shots Allister. I like the sharp focus on the second one. I did not even notice the bendy props - until you pointed them out!

.
Very cool pic of the A350, and the Q300 is pretty neat despite the rolling shutter effect
