When we moved into our new house I was told that I wasn’t qualified to read the meter.

Was trying to let them know what the reading was, as I had no idea how much the previous owner had consumed prior to us moving in.

My 16-85 da lens just arrived, just in time for Christmas. So far seems very sharp, with low ca and very quiet AF.

Yes I have been a bit quiet on this thread but I am still thoroughly obsessed with photography. Been sniffing around some of the FB sites but am sick of the interesting stuff sliding down into oblivion. With spring comes natural history macro work. Been putting a bit on inaturalist as observations. Bit jaded on PF threads whining about what they want and what they think everyone else wants and I think minds have closed a little. We have had a decade or so of amazing learning curves from these new technologies (I have learned so much from PF) and perhaps things have levelled out a bit.
Apart from a couple of threads, I'm also quiet around here, and TBH have gotten in a bit of a rut photographically. Cheers for the thoughts on inaturalist, I will have a project with my eldest son next spring, methinks. Enjoy the spring/summer!

I always follow the action and have just been super busy. Hardly had any chance to do much photography.

I wish everybody a great time and recreative break!

I am much the same the past few months. On leave now for a couple of weeks, which is very nice.

Wishing everyone a very Happy Christmas and New Year

Merry Christmas everyone! Or, if you prefer, Happy Festivus! Or, Io Saturnalia! (if you're a Roman, that is!)

As to photographic inspiration, that is SEVERELY lacking currently, i have 4 cameras loaded with film, 2 digitals with batteries and cards fresh, and cannot get motivated or think of anything i want to photograph hahah

Merry everything to all.

I'm thinking/planning ahead for my holiday in April. I've worked out a scheme where I can upload RAW photos to the cloud and have my Mac at home grab them and put them in the proper place locally where they need to be for later processing, and also to be included in backups. Some neat automation to play with. All I'll need on the trip is my iPad and one adapter. (And working wifi.) Slow, but effective if I do it daily.

Thinking on what lenses I will take is the next thing. Seeing as I will be in Singapore, where it rains most days, I'm thinking the obvious choices will be my two WR examples — 18-135 and 55-300. That will cover the range, I think. I'm not planning on being photographically adventurous, and for the most part will probably not want to be swapping lenses much. I figure I can pick one of those for a location and stick with it. E.g. 55-300 for a zoo, 18-135 for gardens. I'm trying for minimal gear as my gear bag will become my day pack and flight bag.

Any tips from frequent travellers (I've been overseas on holiday exactly once in the last 20 years) would be welcomed.

Here's today's subject — first of type (for NZ) and first time to Wellington (possibly not often here, either). Air New Zealand's A321neo, ZK-NNA, as seen from the top of the new 8-storey carpark.
