I'm not sure I had fun or not yet taking thousands of photos at the Games. Maybe I'll make up my mind when the pay comes in, not that it will be a lot, I did it more for the experience. It was tiring work sometimes, other times easy. It was shot week so being inside in air-conditioned environments shooting snooker wasn't too bad! But outside shooting soccer wandering around 4 fields trying to get a shot of every competitor was trying.

Shooting squash from up high and just getting tops of heads and backs wasn't that fulfilling, but some of the social events were fun, and all the competitors and officials were good to us and always keen for a chat about their sport. The netball tent had zero non-alcoholic drinks, and I was told, after asking for one, "this is netball".

Our mandate was to get shots of everyone, getting good shots was secondary, so it was a different way of thinking.

Met up with Transit, Gub and Class A for a drink and meal, some photographic talk was had, and some political! I'm happy for Transit to put the photo up if the others are.
Yeah put the photo up Pete

I get that a lot 😂
One of participants preferred not to appear
My brave attempt at cropping and editing revealed
deeper images in the teacups than the mugshots so went for art

Went to puppy classes this week....
Some numpty with a huge canon pro kit wandered about taking "snaps".....
Basically coming up behind and shooting from 3 metres using an f-off zoom...

Ultrasonic focus motor... and every dog heard, turned, nutted off.....
and the shooter smiled...kept shooting the "wonderful dogs in alert pose"

Might loudly explain to her the problem if I see her there next week...grrr

Hahaha. You've just reminded me of the chaos when Annie took our (then) young Boxer, Phoebe, to dog obedience classes for the first time.

Thanks GUB, saw it and put on watch list this morning. I wouldn't have thought there would be too many of these in NZ, so an interesting lens to be for sale.

Hmm.. Nice lens, and in a focal length range I don't have, but probably a bit out of my price range right now.

Quite a few of the reviews question its AF ability. If that is the case then my K 400 5.6 is probably up with the play.

In that case, I can whack the M200 f/4 that awa355 gave me on the 2XTC and join the party. Certainly I have questionable focusing ability on manual lenses.

Am kicking myself at not grabbing my balls and committing to that B&H Photo fire sale on the WR 55-300 a while back.
Went out at the weekend in constant light rain, and it was just excellent to not have to worry about anything other than keeping the lens pointed downwards, to avoid rain on the lens front.
Could only take the wide angle 16-85mm WR though, whilst the non WR version I have of the 55-300 stayed dry back in the car.

Spent some time up at Piha at the weekend, on the West Auckland/Waitakere Ranges west coast. Got to say, when you need it, the WR is a huge relief to have.
And also, man NZ is a stunning place if you take the time to get out and about, and even from the beaten track it's impressive too.
Swimming under waterfalls in the bush, rugged coast waves, rocks (and annoyingly crap sunsets) and Gannet colonies etc. Wow.

A half-decent distributor would have a good case selling Pentax in NZ...

I am going to be in Palmy Thursday evening/Friday. Do you want to borrow my copy for a while - I haven't used it in over a year. Leaving home very early tomorrow, so let me know tonight.

Hi Ross,

Thanks for the offer but no need right now thanks. Back home again from the trip away and the weather has improved 😂. Just a lot of images to process now.

Safe travels 👍🏻
