Ha fully agree. Going ultra wide or ultra long is expensive. If you can live within that 18 - 300mm region, it will certainly be better on your wallet!

I'll be interested to see how the TG-5 compares. It still won't be great, but by dropping the resolution it should have better low light performance than the TG-4. Unfortunately DPReview don't have samples for it.
DPReview have just posted a review on the new TG-6 that updates the TG-5

Yep a gorgeous red pair of Nepalize undies.
Weird isn't it that one underpant is a pair!!
Funny thing is I needed Nepalize 4xl size to fit my Kiwi xl body.
Getting myself into a scrap over there and me with a dangerous amount of knowledge. (sod all)
Thing is tho as a self employed farmer all my working life I have skills as a problem solver and a keenly developed BS alert.
And this bloke thinking his fancy software can see more info within a pentax image than Pentax software can fair sets the alarm bells ringing.
Whadda you guys think of the tests I started with?
Trying to help people understand getting their exposures right when handling saturated colours.
Slipped the three tests quickly in a new thread before the waffling started. The waffling puts so many people off.

Very interesting tests mate.
And the waffle is unavoidable. Such are forums. If you see it going off-track, give me a shout and I can help direct it back on course.

Come on every one this is far too quiet!! Lets have a shot every few days from ya all to show what you have been up to. Me -- I have been stuck here for days and day editing - getting sick of Nepal !!
Evening view from our guest house patio. This is lower down the valley on our second to last night.

Good suggestion GUB. I will play, except you will have to excuse my travelling photos from now on being from the G9, which is what I am carrying with me. This sunrise was Monday morning on my way to Kaikoura, stopped at the passing lane just south of Orari

A visitor whilst I was firewooding .... not sure if it was observing, judging me, or trying to be friendly.

Lovely birds.

You're probably a bit big for it to think you're lunch, so just friendly, I suppose!

After spending (exactly) a month tagging all my photos from Singapore, I finally got to the fun part of select, edit, publish. I've pushed out well over 100 photos in the last few days. I think that's the last of the photos for that album — the Changi Airport stuff still to come will get its own, I think. Then there's Melbourne to do.

Was it a Falcon or a Harrier Bob? Doesn't look speckled enough for a Falcon (might be a young one) but Harriers don't sit around looking at you. Awesome shot.

Looks like a Harrier to me. As for "sitting around looking at you" I recall on a trip up to Hawkes Bay many years ago, encountering one sitting on a roadkill about 1/3rd of the way into the lane from the side of the road. My brother, the driver, said "he'll move." Nup. The bugger was not giving up that roadkill. He stood up tall and spread those HUGE wings wide and we sensibly crossed the centreline to avoid him! When you're a couple of feet away from one with wings spread, you realise just how big they are!
