This is the best I managed. Not happy with the sharpness, but the exposure was OK. Very little processing except boosting the light and demonising and lens sharpening with DeepPRIME.

f/8, 3200, 1/13s, 300mm using the 55-300 PLM on KP.

Well done. We got too much cloud during the main part of the eclipse, and couldn't see anything. I got some images earlier in the evening, but not the best due to the cloud. I had fun, and it was a good learning experience

It was a bust for me. Put the K-70 into multi-exposure mode and went outside. Shutter was non-operative and I didn't want to faff about in the dark, so I flagged it. Between the TV, my eyeballing the event, and watching a live feed from Auckland Observatory, I was happy. Maybe next year.

It was pretty windy here - the 800mm long 800mm lens flapped around somewhat. Had a go as it lifted above the clouds at 9ish.
I wonder what the dynamic range is between the poles of the moon. A real challenge for the K-1. One thing was sure - upping the iso from base just made things worse. 1/4 sec iso 100 and I think wide open at f8.

I try to not let any demons near my shots...or hardware for that matter.
Each to their own I guess....

I will share my effort from last nights eclipse with a bit of trepidation. As I noted before, too much cloud, and that made everything way less than optimal. This was the last decent shot of the eclipse I got before the moon was completely covered in cloud. I was happy with the 600mm reach on the big zoom

Yeah, definitely.

For maximum DR you want to stick to the lowest ISO possible. Better to push in post than to clip highlights during capture.

Oh, good grief! I must have read it 2 or 3 times in edit and a final check after posting and still missed it!

You might remember another post where someone insisted otherwise (might have been that Stewart Forsythe person). That if you keep it within the histo it would be the same just at a higher iso. Now I like to do practical tests because invisible theories create invisible improvements. So I set my K-1 up at base iso and set so it was just clipping on a blank wall. And proceeded to take 15 shots progressively stopping down. I cropped and pasted them into the first strip with the colour values at the top. As you can see the editor (gimp) zeroed out on the blackest three. But by pulling up the dark end via the colour curve tool there they were ! Amazing - 14 stops dynamic range as advertised. (yes there are 15 steps there but it was a moot point just where clipping was and that could have gifted me a stop.) I repeated this test with iso 3200 and there was no chance of finding them. As they say; we lose a stop of DR as we increase a stop of iso.

Took a drive out on the Watershed rd way way behind Wanganui today.
Where the interesting people live.
On the roadside fence.
We figured it was a no parking zone

Lovely lens Pete, one of the classics

Whiskey Tango Foxtrot. Charming. That one should go in the signs thread as well!
