Too be honest, I've not, no, because my only lens without an aperture ring is with my daughter, being used on my old K5. And I have several lenses without an 'A' position, and as far as I remember the green button will check the aperture, but truth be told, I can't remember! Will need to check.
It is about using the liveview. If it is by design (and not just some setting somewhere in my one) your K-1 will not auto brighten. So if you want to critical focus in a macro setting that is going to need a flash your live view stays dark as. (on "A"). But if you use the aperture ring you can see what you are doing. Try it with your FA 50.

I wouldn't choose it for the K-1 because of the lack of an aperture ring.
The lenses with a ring can be flicked off A and fstop chosen on ring. This means Liveview will auto brighten in dark situations.
Now on PF I seem to be the only person on noting this point of difference between "A" and the ring.
And some other models of my cameras don't act the same (K01 and KS1)
Given the lack of feedback when I comment about it I still don't know if it is a feature on some models or just some setting I have clicked on the K-1.
Have you noticed this difference in your K-1 Mark?
Yes I can understand you gents gagging after a good 100 macro and of course aperture ring being required as available on the FA 100 2.8 that I may be persuaded to let go off :-)

Are there any other lenses you could be persuaded to let go of Pete? Asking for a friend

If any one wants a good model vintage macro this is a K series 50mm f4
I so enjoy the detective work the sellers commit you to.

I have a very nice FA 50mm f2.8 macro which is just the bees knees. Specularly sharp. Oh, and following on from Pete's comments - not a lens I could be persuaded to let go off

Very nice of you to be hunting out obscure listings for us to consider GUB. Much appreciated.

I have the A 50 2.8 macro which has a different element count to the F. The reviews rate it highly as well. I find it great for tramping as it is very light and versatile.

Took these the other morning with the 400 from Waitahinga walking trails. So which one into a white mat/frame?
The B&W on metallic paper?
the colour on Photo rag.?

It has the feeling of an old NZ watercolour to me. That is why I wouldn't put it on metallic. The colours are close to the original - slightly pumped if anything.

Depends if I go back to crop I suppose Ross. Having discovered the K-1 is not faulty just the user...not sure now. The KP would be nice

For sure with the KP, it seems to be a very good camera. With the K-1 - well yes. I can't imagine how photographers with 50MP+ cameras get on. My understanding is the more MP you have the better your technique needs to be.
