It can certainly do donuts!
But with care it can add a little extra to the bokeh.

What surprises me is at f8 how blurred the horizon is considering the fishermen would be over 100 metres away.
According to my calculations, the hyperfocal distance for a 500 mm lens at f/8 (on FF) is over 1 km! For a focus distance of 100 m, the DOF is < 20 m.

Contrast that with a 300 mm lens and otherwise the same parameters and the hyperfocal drops to 388 m and the DOF at 100 m is 55 m. Quite the difference!

Indeed and aggravated by the quicker increase in bokeh ball diameter of a longer lens. Here - a 10 metres wide target and a 5km away horizon comparing 500mm and 50mm at f8

Long weekend. Some cracker weather. I'm stuck at home, for multiple reasons.

Somebody show me some awesome springtime photos...

As requested. Stunning day here in Timaru also - 23 degrees, blue sky and very still. I went for a walk in the Timaru Scenic Reserve earlier this afternoon. K-3 III and Zeiss 35/2. The track with the rail lines is from the old quarries in the Reserve which went all the way down to the Port and took basalt for the breakwaters down from the quarries during the ports construction. It is a very nice walk on a warm day.

Very nice. I've spent a bit of time in Timaru on visits as friends who were previously in Blenheim moved there for a few years, and I have a cousin and aunt and uncle living there, but that's somewhere I haven't visited.

Thank you Chris. The Scenic Reserve is basically a valley with a stream and lake, lots of tracks and mountain biking and is well used by the Timaru community

Been a vintage parade weekend here in Wanganui. But the stunning weather makes for horrid contrasty shooting conditions.
So today tried a deliberate overexposure abstract for a change.

One of the reasons I love Zealandia is even if the birds aren't showing themselves, it's still a nice walk. I was just recalling my forays south the other day and apart from a flying trip to Christchurch in 2017, I haven't been south of Blenheim for at least 37 years.

Better than all the bikies that have been heard going past us on the motorway a couple of times this weekend. I love the front-on shot of the 1930 A1.

I've been meaning to for many, many years. My wife has spent even less time down south than I have. But there are challenges (other than cost alone) getting her across the water. Hopefully in a couple of years we'll have a better answer to this plague because, despite the use of the phrases "post-COVID" and "post-pandemic" on the news, it's really only "post-restrictions".

That is very true regarding COVID. I am travelling again now, but I have 2 in my household who are quite vulnerable to the impact of COVID. So, we are still being pretty careful about hygiene and where we go.

That yellow one looks like a Minion portrait.

Maybe Vws were the inspiration that minions arose from.
It would be fairly apt!
