Sure, that'll be fun. Are you still shooting games on weekends?
Missed a few weekends recently, but turned up last Sunday, but half the team didn't, so they just played a friendly, so I took off. Pretty booked up until after Christmas now (not photographically booked, other stuff), so after that maybe. Have to shoot up to Hawke's Bay for an Aunty's funeral this weekend though . Hopefully get some shots of the cuzzies.

Wow, where are you getting this stuff from? Is it local to you? Yeah I suppose there is a bit of gear on Trade Me but it takes a while to come up. The flow is steady though someone listed the 2nd LX in 2 weeks last night.
It seems to come in fits and starts on TM. Sometimes nice things slip past the rabid bidders Funny market here, not a rich country. People bought a Spotmatic etc then started economising on extra lenses I thought I was christmas when buying a new Hanimex 200mm in 1976
I check out other bidders buying history. I try to hammer dealers and back off on real Pentax users

I got my A 50/f1.2 off Trademe. Had it cleaned professionally as it had something on it and i didn't want it to get worse. I hardly use it, but can't bare to part with it!
Yeah mine doesn't get much use, need to work on that. tragically it hit the deck while attached to the K100D and now has big dent in the filter ring.A real pain as she needs a hood onboard

I don't have much to say but check in most mornings to see what's going on.

I'm curious if anybody has had experience of the NZ consumer guarantee act. I have a DA* 50-135 and recently have seen a number of posts related to SDM failure with these lens. So far mine is fine but it occurred to me that if it did fail outside its warranty then under the act Littles would be obliged to repair it within a reasonable time. The question I have is that the case and if so what would be a reasonable lifetime for such an expensive lens and is there a precedent?

In the meantime I'm enjoying it and not losing sleep over it all but I would appreciate any comment you might have.

Regards
Brian

Definitely more than a one year warranty anyway! It's tricky one though, I don't know of any precedent, and of course what we think may bear no resemblance to what may actually eventuate. Off the top of my head I'm thinking 4 or 5 years? I bet I R Little would fight that though.

Thanks Arpe, pretty much what I thought. I hope I don't get the opportunity to test Little's response to an out of warranty repair request.

Cheers

Arpe, you gave me a fright, I thought this thread was dead.

Have a good one!

I promise/threaten to be posting more to this thread in the not too distant future again.

Merry Christmas, Pete (who will surely post a comprehensive K100D vs K-x comparison soon).

Was over in Thailand recently and got the chance to have a play around with a bunch of gear, including K-x and Pentax pancake lenses. Very nice lenses, wish those lenses were more available here. Pentax seemed reasonably popular in shops and in people's hands.

Also had a quick play with Canon 7D and Nikon D300s. Made me realise how much I like (or am used to) the handling of the Pentax K10D. The Nikon was a lot closer to the Pentax in design and felt better in the hand than the Canon (for me).

K10D stood up well to some rough handling, rain, dirt and dust (as did the Sigma 24-60 actually).

Some photos using that K10D are here: https://www.pentaxforums.com/forums/post-your-photos/84318-travel-three-weeks...east-asia.html

ok

The K100D is slightly rounder to hold.
The K-x mirror clatter would wake the dead.
K-x does lots more stuff.
