Antarctica has always been very high on my list, but my wife has no interest in it at all. So if I ever go I'm not sure who I'll get to travel with me.

Also a bit (read: a lot) apprehensive about the horrible weather and sea states in the Drake Passage.

Also high on my list. But having trouble convincing the family that somewhere like Peru would be a great destination in the next few years. Flights to South America look pretty cheap compared to Europe or especially Asia, and not that long from the US east coast.

My wife and I have been to Antarctica in January of 2009. We went there from Argentina (Ushuaia) on a small ship, called the Minerva, with 200 passengers. It was our 7th continent. Took lots of photographs with my Pentax. We landed somewhere almost every day over a 10 day period, getting into a Zodiac (typically two groups of 10 Zodiacs) each with 10 people after decontaminating your boots, and landing onshore by jumping in the water.

We have taken lots of trips over the years and to me, this one was probably my most favorite experience.

I've added to this post a couple of pictures from my vast collection.

PS Note they don't do the Ross Sea trip any longer, via Australia/New Zealand. Other companies do and also use the same ship we went on. ( It had a reinforced hull so it could go through heavy ice and was one step lower than an ice breaker.)

I suspect any trip you might look at will need to be through South America as I cannot see Australia nor New Zealander being open anytime soon for tourism. We can’t even repatriate all our our citizens 18 months after COVID first appeared.
