And so much for packing light otherwise. Now that I do not have the IT stuff, I decided to go ahead and bring most of the kids! 7 lbs total
The K-3 III and the 100 Macro will be in the waist pack.
Lol! At least you have the option of taking just the waist pack. 7lbs a pretty light, but the thing that may bite you is indecision over what lens/camera to use in a given moment.

Exactly. I suspect I'll keep the pancake on the Bee and the 100 on the K-3 III most of the time, but I have the option to swap out as needed. (Yes, I bet I'll get a few responses to leave the 18-135 on there all the time but I love the look of this silver 100 and it ought to be a perfectly good walkaround lens).

Not bringing both laptops plus their power has really made a difference in how enthusiastic I am about this trip.

(Try wearing a 24 lb backpack in 90º weather climbing the 194 steps from the bottom of the Red Rocks Amphitheater to the top.)

Get one of those crazy exercise people to do it. They'll love it.

I saw those. One dude was running up the seats in 2s, then going back down and doing it over. It made me tired just watching him.

Ok, I'm back
  • Did not get Camera Clips @ Peak Design, rain and very bad neighborhood prevented it
  • To the people who said "just bring the 18-135" - you were right
  • PCH/Cabrillo/Rt 1 was washed out/mudded out/closed/a bust
  • Spent most of the time in Escondido (San Diego area) where weather was fine. Avoided Salton Sea because, well, ARSENIC FUMES
  • The density of Teslas/mi2 was overwhelming
.

Yes, it was a good vacation, just not the one I had planned.

We flew to Newfoundland one trip, a couple of years ago. I had to pack light...so took my K5, 18-135 and 55-300. No flash was taken as I figured the in camera K5 flash would do the trick. It all worked very well. Oh, almost forgot, also packed my 70mm Limited in for portraits....such a small, high quality lens, that takes up next to no space in my Domke bag.
