I'm keen so long as it is closer to the middle rather than the end of March as i have a friend visitng from Montreal.

I HIGHLY recommend e-mailing the ROM forst to tell them we're coming and to get clearance, i'd also keep the e-mail with you we're likely to be hassled upon entry as they see 20 marauding blokes with camera gear left, right and centre ..... i just have a feeling they will not be pleased.

One lens is easy, hello Mr 12-24

Sorry Guys!

Thanks for the PM alert, but March is really bad for me. 5 birthday parties and 2 anniversaries. Keep me posted for the next one!

One lens suggestion - 12-24 is my first choice, 16-50 DA* next then the kit 18-55.

ROM is OK with photo-groups that don't maraude

How does right smack dab in the middle work for you?

When talking to the group coordinator (Cheryl), she said buying group tickets would speed things up at entry (no line) and alert the staff on duty that we are a single (marauding) group. She didn't think the cameras would be a problem unless we bring in big bags, supports, lighting (aside from on-camera flash, but I didn't ask about wireless P-TTL) or try to use their space as a "set" for professional photography.

Aw... I thought this was going to be "prime time." If that's not the case I'll bring my 17-70 and leave the 50 at home.

March 15th is good for me and my wife. Its a very good excuse to spend a romantic weekend away from home and top it off with a visit to her favourite spot in all Toronto.

Anyone care to recommend a close-by hotel?

Just try to resist the bargains at what seem like great hotels near Jarvis street, that whole east side is real seedy. Some quite nice hotels in that area and the rates look great but when you get there ... yikes.

Yay! We have a plan.

Sounds like Sunday, March 15th, 1:00 at the ROM works well for people. The dinosaur and kids exhibits will be mobbed on a weekend, of course... but "the Crystal" will be open and full of sunlight (I hope).

If we can get a headcount sometime in the next week or so (PM me), I can do a "group ticket buy" for anyone definitely coming so we don't have to stand in line - just say you're with "Pentax Canada." ;-)

Speaking of which, anyone want to ask the folks at Pentax Canada (in Mississauga) if they want to take photos too? (But not if they bring a Leica...)

Mobbed doubly so, the 15th is the first weekend of March break, so there are going to be big crowds is my guess. I haven't been in the crystal part yet, but from walking by it, don't most of it's windows face north? Not to spoil things or anything.

Just bring a fast 50 (or 12-24 if you insist, and then only if I get to try it..) and things will be great. Think I'll just stick with my 35mm Takumar though. Might be worth mounting flashes on cameras so that they appear integrated to get inside, but then take them off and use wireless triggers with someone from the group handholding to get some extra special lighting.

I should be able to make it. I'll probably have a photography assignment I need to work on that weekend.
