During the meetup (after the ROM), we talked about the abandoned brickworks along the DVP. For those that are interested, here are a few of my Quicktime panos from inside the buildings:

Fullscreen QTVRs of the Don Valley Brickworks
<edit: I've updated them to Flash 9 panoramas, so folks on 64-bit Windows can see them as well>

Not much of photographic interest there, of course.
(And now you know why I'm called "panoguy")

the brick work place is intersting if you venture into the actual forest, hop a wire fence to get to the unused rail tracks (atleast i assume they are not used since the finish is rusted), and climb down into the stream.

here are some snaps from my visit there in the Fall

Wow, Mark, those are some of the coolest QTVR's I've ever seen!

So you can just walk around in there? I'd think it'd be closed off so somebody doesn't get sued when some kid impales himself on a rusty old machine...

i think this is probably why they have closed it off

when i was tehre in the fall there was a sign there, "danger due to bees"

i dont know if it was true or not but the girl i was with was actually allergic to them so we didnt risk it.

althought if i was with you guys i would have no problem being mischievous, whats the worst that will happen? we'll just run away from the cops.

FYI: I shot those panos over a year ago in the winter when it was -10 inside, and there were about 15 other photographers lurking about! I haven't been back since, though I really want to go again. I know the farmer's market doesn't start up again until May, and that is what draws most people to the area. So... though I'm not (publicly) advocating we trespass, but I could check out the area soon enough to see if the places I know are still accessible.

Oh, and another thing: it is not only fairly dark in there but the air is full of caustic particulates (lime). Makes for great light-beams, but really bad for changing lenses or using unsealed N**ons or C**ons. Though, as with anything, you do it at your own risk...

I'm in, even with my new crappy gear :-)

By the way, particulate problem solved:

New and used gas mask, Collectables, Business Industrial on eBay.ca

Wasn't really feeling it with the lighting and I dunno what, but these turned out ok and at least sort of tell the story of being at the ROM with a bunch of rabid Pentax fans. All with the Super Takumar 35mm f2, except for the 3rd which was about a second handheld (f22) with a marvelous Carl Zeiss Jena 20mm f4.
