Well guys, I'm really sorry I couldn't make it that day. I would've love to be there and learn from you guys. But my friend's wedding fell on the same day so...

But, I did took some pictures that day. I know it's not the ROM but I'd through I share my spirit by sharing the pics I took.

when i was tehre in the fall there was a sign there, "danger due to bees"

i dont know if it was true or not but the girl i was with was actually allergic to them so we didnt risk it.

althought if i was with you guys i would have no problem being mischievous, whats the worst that will happen? we'll just run away from the cops.
Bees? Oh, they're there.... they're there..... (at least in summer, not sure if these things hibernate in winter?) Bring an Epi-Pen.

The wooden things are stacks of hives, the fuzzy dots in the air are the bees..

i thought when they said beware of bees because they had some sort of hive infestation and just no one to take care of it, i didnt think they were actually breeding bees in there!!

Uh, YIKES!

Ok, I haven't seen any bugs yet, 'cept for a few ants. I think we gotta get a move on if you hope to do this without the prospect of being a pin-cushion! :-)

No bees today, but...

I went by there this morning, and while there were no hives in that area (but the signs are still up) there have been some major changes to the facility. About 1/3 of what I remember has been torn down and there is a major construction/ demolition project going on. (Bulldozers, porta-potties, new fences - the works) Looks like the brickworks won't be around much longer!

Being a miscreant, I waited until the security guy had timbits in his face and walked to the backside of the complex and checked the old "entrances." Everything is very securely boarded up and welded shut, so unless someone here has a Sawz-All and diplomatic immunity, it will be *really* hard to get in there again. Enjoy the panos, as they may be our last glimpse of the interior.

Great shots, Simon! They didn't make it to another page - and this page has one looong load time on my sad Rogers "Lite" interweb!

Speaking of sad, you caught me chimping in the dino exhibit! I guess that's what people with "D"SLRs look like 50% of the time...

So, after a few failed attempts at gathering other miscreants and the weather not cooperating, I *did* go back into what's left of the main hall this past Sunday AM. I managed to shoot two quick 360 panoramas with my tripod and panohead (non-HDR, so I opted to blow out the sunbeams in favor of detail):

The Long Hall - Flash 9 Pano

The Oven - Flash 9 Pano

Then I got chased out by the security guard who saw me from the other end of the long hall. He just yelled "hey you" and I waved to him and walked out... no blood, no foul. I'll post the rest of the non-pano images somewhere soon.
