For anyone in the northern VA or surrounding areas who is interested in shooting bicycle racing... There is a sanctioned race this Sunday between 8am and 5:30pm near Tysons Corner.

COURSE DESCRIPTION: 1.1 mile loop with three turns; a sweeping downhill and a big-ring uphill finish with a kicker in the last 50 meters. The course is wide and fast with an excellent road surface.

DIRECTIONS: From the 495/95 Capital Beltway, take Route 123 South. Turn right onto Tyson’s Boulevard (as if going to Tyson’s II Shopping Mall). Turn right onto Galleria Drive. Course is on Jones Branch, Westpark, and Westbranch Drive. Park only in the designated parking area at 8000 Westpark
Drive.

If anyone is interested in going let me know. These things are a challenge to shoot and there are lots of opportunities for good photos.

You make me wish I were living on the East Coast. Bike races are incredible places to take great photos. Much better than motor sport events. It is all very up-close-and-personal and the physical drama is pretty intense.

Yes...extreme mountain biking! There is also some great cyclocross as well. They also do criterion in downtown Portland. Bad roads ==> lots of road rash!

Doesn't look like I'm going to be able to go either (at least till the afternoon anyway) Putting up a privacy fence this weekend and I didn't get as far as I wanted yesterday.
