Toronto: Don Jail Photo Event, Sat. May 9th

This is both a competition and an opportunity to have an hour in the 145-year old jail building to shoot wherever and whatever you want! They are letting in *only photographers* (pro or am), in groups of up to 10, for an hour each to go nuts inside. I just found out about it today, and it is open tomorrow (Saturday, May 9th) from 9 AM - 7 PM.

Yes, it requires a $25 "donation" and you might win a N**on, but there aren't many opportunities to shoot crumbling, historic structures in Toronto on a given day. I know, since I was chased out of the Don Valley Brickworks not too long ago...

So, the question is "how many Pentaxians can get in there at once?"

Yeah, things are thawing up here... might be a good idea to hit the islands before the crush of not-quite-so-photogenic tourists.

Some places I've been considering:

- Toronto Islands
- RC Harris Pumphouse
- Rouge Park

What other location ideas are floating around? Is Vizjerei's punk band playing anywhere soon? How about Gooshin's next fashion show? I'm sure farfisa can get us into the bowels of Queen's Park... come on, folks!

Never heard of RC Harris Pumphouse before, what's there to see?

I'm booked this weekend (might be going to the Zoo with my 3 y.o. on Saturday) but I agree that we should get together before everyone takes off on their vacations.

R. C. Harris Water Treatment Plant - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

It looks like an Art Deco prison or something, plus parts of the interior are pretty wild and weird (if permission is granted to shoot inside). The park around it is nice as well.

Great map, Vizj. You even venture into Quebec, and it seems to include a lot of birding sites.... hmmm.
