I was just thinking that we should put something together for mid to late July or early August. I expect I'll be around Toronto for the rest of the summer.

We could shoot garbage piles and striking municipal workers downtown (not that I've been downtown since before the strike started).

Anybody know of an interesting festival or event coming up?

I remember wandering around the waterfront/ Queens Quay as one suggestion from past threads that hasn't been done yet, I'll look and see what else is listed in the old meet up threads.

I guess this would be "Toronto Meetup VI"?

Some suggestions harvested from old meetup threads, as always new suggestions are welcome too:

- Toronto Islands (probably not practical until the strike ends?)
- RC Harris Pumphouse R. C. Harris Water Treatment Plant - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
- Rouge Park
- Toronto Botanical Garden
- The Beaches and its boardwalk
- Buskerfest, St.Lawrence Market Aug 27-30 (late enough in the summer to be a second summer meet?)

- Victor's points of interest map: Victor's Ontario Point of Interest Map - Google Maps

I have a crazy summer ahead of me but I'll try and be there. Centre island strikes me as an opportunity.

I vote islands as long as the strike holds out

Actually, there are ferries running to the islands during the strike: Toronto Harbor Tours is running them for islanders and guests of islanders. I've been there quite a few times already this summer (my son goes to school there so I know the "secret code") and it is *fantastic* without all the bikers and crowds, since Centre park is closed and not many people know where/ how to catch the temporary ferry to Ward's.

Great places guys! Yea I'm definitely up for a photowalk in the city. Just got my K20D recently (albiet just before the crazy forum sell offs at ~$500 ) and loving the build and the multiple exposure feature. Can't wait to give it another rundown lol.

Hey guys,
Sounds like a good idea, but I can't say for sure if I can make it at this point.
Will stay tuned...

Kensington Market has the "Pedestrian Sundays" on the last sundays of every month during the summer. It's a great street festival for those interested.

Toronto Summer Meetup?

Hello everyone:

I'm hoping to attend, but will be busy for a few weeks. In the process of moving. Official date is July 18th, so any weekend after that I'm sure I could squeeze a day out.
Centre Island sounds like a great idea. Haven't been there in a few years, and looking for an excuse to go.
Keep me posted!

Another idea: Tommy Thompson Park (a.k.a Leslie Street Spit) is another excellent location. Lots of birds!
