2009 Potomac Whitewater Festival

Potomac Whitewater Festival

This weekend (11-12 July 09) a bunch of insane kayakers will brave the Great Falls of the Potomac River (just west of Washington, DC). I've shot this event for the past 2 years and it is truly amazing what these guys are willing to paddle through/over. I'm still awaiting word on whether the best vantage point will be on the MD or the VA side of the falls (cross fingers for VA as the observation areas are larger and more plentiful) but will post this as soon as (or if) I get the word in time.

Link to photos from last year's races

If anyone local is interested in hooking up to shoot this let me know. It'll be an early start as we need to be at the observation area by 8AM for the VA side and even earlier, 7-7:30AM, for the MD side.

Mike

Sorry Mel...

Hey, I'm seriously thinking about buying a K20D this evening. Ace Photo has them for $699 since the K7 came out (and I much much prefer to buy local even though B&H has em for $650).

Hey, speaking of 2 bodies... You need to add that killer K7 to your signature block...

Got it! $699 for a K20D is a steal. Ace Photo is great! They are supposed to get the K7 tomorrow or Saturday so next week I'll be going out to see what all the hubbub is about. Don't need the video features but the higher FPS would be nice. My real needs though are for a higher flash-sync speed which even the K7 doesn't have.
