Shooting in LA

I recently spent an afternoon shooting in downtown LA with my k7, but unfortunately had to "slum it" with one of my Cannon-shooting friends. I would love to meet some local Pentax folk...

I have sent this PM to most of the above posters:

"How about THIS SATURDAY Sep 18 at Griffith Observatory?

They are having the monthly "star party" from 2 PM to 9:45 PM which is a bunch of telescopes on the lawn for public viewing.

Lots of people shots! Landscape! Architecture! Bust of James Dean! Science stuff! Lights at night!

I suggest 4PM at the astronomers monument. Enough time for day shots, golden hour and hike up the hill?

Parking can be tough, so plan ahead..."

I forgot: Hollywood sign!

If I get NO replies, I might bail, too, so don't go just to meet me :-)

Got your PM. That sounds like it could be lots of fun, but right now it looks like I will be flying to San Francisco for the day. In fact, I am going for some street shooting. I have airline tickets that will be expiring end of October so I need to use them.

Right-O. Have fun in SF. I have sisters there, and passed through in May.

Here's some of what was there...

The moon.

Architectural details.

Cityscape.

Mirror-grinding action.

Home-built telescopes.

Sundial people.

Nature.

Dr. John Dobson (of Dobsonian telescope fame) celebrating 95th birthday.

Aliens.

Foucault pendulum watchers.

Night lights.

I used some hand-held flash on the wall.

Off to Washington DC and Gettysburg area tomorrow for a week!

Mmmmaybe.... It is kind of up in the air right now. what area do you live in? Do you have any ideas as far as places to meet? I thought maybe meet up at the camera show in Anaheim, but I'm not sure what we would do from there.

I just saw this post.
I live in South Orange county and I do a lot of bird photography in Irvine water district and also in Bolsa Chica. Back Bay is an excellent spot as well.It will soon be Pelican feeding frenzy. If any body is interested let me know.
