67 & 67ii repair issues

Anyone else having problems getting a film 6x7 repaired? I'm told that Pentax no longer has parts for it. Anyone hearing the same thing?

I have no idea but if Pentax don't stock the parts anymore, they won't fix it. Your best option would be searching for third party technicians who would source the parts from broken cameras. There must be some around.

In my part of the world the Pentax Service center have parts dating back to the Asahiflex. If they don't have the part, they scavenge it from older cameras...

Perhaps that's a regional matter. Few years back Pentax Canada have quite a lot of old parts in stock, but then cleaned out most of them after restructure. In countries where people can get sued for anything, I guess covering our own axx is the top priority.

I suspect that when Pentax offloaded their repair department, the repair department didn't take up the 6x7.
I believe Pentax Canada still repairs the 6x7, so if nothing else, you could ship it to them.

To the best of my knowledge, only the oldest Non-MLU 6x7 is hard to repair due to scarcity of parts. FWIW, I sent my 67II to KEH to repair a winding problem, and they did a great job, very fast and very reasonable cost. Getting 67's repaired by third party technicians should not be a problem.

I recently had my 67 repaired by Eric in Tenn Home.

He did a great job, I highly recommend.

67 Repairs

Ditto for Eric in Tennessee. He ordered a new housing for my meter on a 67II, and you could not tell it from new. Parts must still be available. You could call pentax. I find them very helpful. They have the manuals available for free download.

FWIW I ordered some 67ii parts from Pentax (USA) in October 2009 without any difficulty.

If my 6x7 needs work or cla, it will be going to Eric. He was trained by Honeywell and retired from them.
