not bad, it seems the A 35mm f/3.5 is still able to pull it's weight and deliver good performance, some PF is present. Though at magnitudes far less than I had expected.

The image taken with the FA 300mm f/5.6 at ISO 400 is clean, with no detectable banding in the shadows (this will have 5DMKII owners hopping up and down). There is minute posterization in the shadows with these images but they are 8 bit jpeg's after all. Looks like the sensor is performing very well.

Are the interior shots overexposed? I find myself preferring the K7 shots indoors :-P

You can tell DOF is going to be harder to control too...compare the macro shots...the bokeh is awesome though. I really wish they did a few studio shots :-)

you and me both, because the 645D will be primarily a studio camera for me. with occasional use for landscape work in the field.

The Japanese consumer who they're trying to cater to seems to be interested primarily in landscapes, and I would imagine that would be reflected in both the pre release samples and then the first shots after release. Wait a month or so and I bet some studio photographer will get a hold of it. I'm anxiously awaiting what Chris Willson from the Travel 67 blog will do with it for example, even though he's not primarily a studio photog.

Me, I hope there's some crazy, well-heeled, veteran wedding photographer who shoots in a documentary style that buys one. Those photos would be awesome.

I suspect they're not pushing it for studio work because there's no tethering (most people I know who run MF in studio run tethered to Lightroom or Capture One)...

from what I have heard they are planning on remedying that situation.

The first couple images in this photostream are 645D studio shots, just for those who have been asking. Looks great to me.

I'll be booking some studio time the day my 645D turns up in the store - can't wait

Cashing in my mid-life crisis and will be ordering my 645D next week when the funds are available (had to extend the home loan) and it should be here mid-August. No little red sports car or upgrading the motorbike for me - just 40 Mpixel Medium format goodness in a month a half or so.

On the tethered thing - I don't know if this was slip up or not, but .....
The shop I'm getting mine through let me know a demo will be arriving later this week, or early next week, and I've been invited up for a play and a "get to know you" session with the 645D. They mentioned the memory card slots have been disabled for "security reasons" and we'd have shoot hooked up too a laptop.
That would suggest to me that a firmware upgrade or "fix" is already around to allow shooting tethered ..... at least I hope so!

Instead of the Midlife Crysler a Midlife Pentax! Sounds like a good deal to me. Damn.

And it's only $29 a fortnight extra on my existing loan, what a bargain, the 645D is cheap

Now if I can just work out a way to silence that little voice reminding me it's $29 a fortnight for the remainder of the time left on my mortgage (~ 18 years) ..........
