MYO (Make Your Own) 645 to K Adapter

I am not sure if this is the right place to ask but here goes.

I have seen pics of a 645 to K adapter that someone made him/herself on pentaxforum but I am not sure how to find those pics again.

I have been looking for these adapters (original Pentax if possible) at reasonable price (USD 200 or thereabout is not what I considered reasonable ).

Has anyone made their own adapter?
Could you please provide step-by-step instructions?
Pics would really help.

cheers

It might be in our DIY section, here: Do-It-Yourself - PentaxForums.com

Thanks Adam, but it's not in that section.

I dont think it was a thread by itself but rather a post in a thread about something else.
Not exactly step-by-step instructions but a pic of an adapter that he made.

cheers

A quick and very cheap adapter can be made from a m42 3 part extender and a 645 lens cap and a m42 body adapter.
Use the 10mm extender connected into the m42 adapter. Fit to canera.
Cut a section from another part of the extender to leave a 42mm thread with a flange.
Cut a hole in the cap to contain the flange and thread through cap into the other end of the 10mm adapter. Screw up tight. It works. Not sure yet if the 10mm extender gives the right distance to shoot to infinity.
Register distance for K mount is 45.46
Register distance for 645 is 70.87.
Difference is 25.41. Equivilent to an imperial inch.
The 10mm extender plus the cap is about this.

I have only just made this adapter and not tested it fully.
Maybe better DIY experts can help.

Has anyone tried this conventer?
How does it compare to the real thing?

thanks

645 to K

The diy adapter works really well. It really depends how much you intend to use this. If regularly, then, yes, there is a Honk Kong made equivelent to Pentax. I have not been able to source. I shall be interested in your conclusions.
I have a 645 Pentax 300mm. and this needs supporting using a video lens holder. I am not ready to invest in shorter lens but am very tempted following my results of the 300mm.
Happy experimenting
