I think all you need is one of those hot shoe(female) to PC cord adapter and a hot shoe(male) to 5P adapter. There is no automation at all with the LS lens other that to fire the flash. The central pin of the hot shoe adapter I think is the same for all cameras. Check out the hot shoe adpater F and and hot shoe adapter FG.
Thanks for the suggestion! So what you suggest is:
a pc cord between LS and a hot shoe(female) to PC cord adapter (for example,

putting the hot shoe(female) onto a hot shoe(male) to 5P adapter (= hot shoe adapter F, see
http://www.bdimitrov.de/kmp/flashes/mounting/HotShoeF.jpg)
5P tp 5P cable between that adapter and the flash (

That seems logical to me. Indeed, it's just to trigger the flash, nothing else. I broke my AF400T and it seemed problematic anyway, as it did not always fire (I distrust the 4P connection). Moreover, the AF500 is much more mobile, that potato flash is ideal if you're planning it and taking all your stuff along, but otherwise the AF500 fits my bag much better!
