FYI- Aspherical Surfaces

Pentax uses aspherical surfaces on their 75mm AL for the 67 but also on many of their digital lenses. Most optics manufacturers don't explain much about these lens elements so I thought I'd include some pictures to show the possible types used. The rare Schmidt type is not shown here. Not only do aspherical sufraces help control spherical aberration but they make quite a difference in reducing distortion as well.
