You notice that shipping destination is "free shipping to us." Obviously, it's some dude in Niagara, India, China, etc. that is just trying to pull someone away from the eBay transaction...

I would almost be curious to see what he has to say when you email him for his 'bid terms' - except I would not want someone like that having my email address!

Seller is in the UK and is apparently legitimate for off-road stuff. Did anyone report this auction to eBay?

While passing out Halloween candy, I saw no less than 20 of these, all offering 10 or more and some even with the DA*55, for the same $2150. All with Hijacked IDs. I grew tired of reporting this guy to ebay months ago. Usually he's scamming top tier lenses with stolen photos from a seller named ian.holiday (who is a legit seller).

Reported to ebay FWIW. How does one hijack an ID anyway? Doesn't a seller have to login properly to create a salable item#. Seems like poor security on ebay's part......

The two ways to do it are to either break through ebay itself's security, or to run a 'bruteforce' program, which tries words to guess the passwords. Precisely why your password should never be a word or couple words put together. throw some random numbers and symbols in there.

I see this thing a lot, the three main signs are 1) the price is way too low 2) the text in the description is actually an image. this makes it harder for ebay to search and find these scam listings and 3) often they use any high rated account they can get their hands on, so sometimes you'll have the item listed on a page with totally different things. Like a camera being sold on a ebay page that deals with car parts or something.

Phishing email to legit account holder about security issue and a button or link in the fake email.
When you click the button to log into the fake eBay site your account name and password are "given" to the hacker.

I had this happen to my eBay account over 10 yrs ago. Fortunately there are a bunch of my friend who call me and ask where I got all these cheap 42in TV's from which tipped me off. I had to call ebay on the phone to straighten the issue out in person. At that time Ebay was beginning to be aware of this new scheme.

Now there are about 14 pages (@ 50 listings per page), all at the low, low price of $2150.

There are 100s of them available from multiple sellers, more than 10 per listing. Some with lenses, some without, all for the same $2150, and all with the requirement shown below. The dipshit isn't even smart enough to space them out. For a scammer, he's pretty light weight in the brains department. I just hope there isn't a moron out there just like him thinking he's going to get a 645d With a 55mm for less than 25% of the current street price.

Any auction listing you see this (below) or similar in, it's a scam with a hijacked ID. Ebay has placed screens that will catch most violations when you actually type out a listing (such as Insurance Optional, which violates their current policy, it is assumed by them that your shipping price includes insurance) and the JPG is how they get past that policy.
