645D manual

I am desperate for this manual.
I recently travelled to Antartica this camera and although I could figure out the majority of functions, there were some that I could not.
Please, please forward the english version pdf.

joseph@melbourneeyecentre.com.au

Many thanks

Joseph

I want to publically thank a real Canadian Gentleman who went to considerable time and work to scan the English Menu Reference Manual, put into PDF format, and send to me. What a beautiful Christmas present to take to Arizona Christmas day (from cold NJ) to see kids & grandkids. His user ID here is "aeros"; hope I do not embarass him, but his real name is Richard C. Jones. There still are very kind, helpful people in this world.
Merry Christmas all....

Dave; If there is still a need for the Operating Manual, I will make some time to scan it to PDF. If you have some ideas as to posting to a site and publishing the URL, that would be a convenient option. It's 104 pages so it's quite a job to scan. I am also concerned about copyright infringement. Anyone out there who can advise on copyright? It's ironic that I should be in a law suit (copyright Infringement) at present with a Japanese owned oil company, they are using a logo I designed for them without paying me for it, so I am going to Civil Court to protect my copyrights. Strange world!

Hi Aeros (Richard): I can't help with the copyright issue. I would think if you copy (BUT DO NOT SELL) it would be OK. I will let any lawyers out there chime in. I don't want to see you go to all that work to scan the manual....I keep thinking Pentax USA or Canada will post on their sites, as more and more cameras are coming to North America. I LOVE this camera. Go to the near end of the "Post your MF photos" thread. I posted 4 shots, then 3 more. You can see what I am doing. I made a 24"x32" print and it is stunning.
Thanks again, my friend....

Technically, Pentax has the copyright on all their manuals. Copying them is a violation of that copyright--whether you sell them or not is neither here not there. A creator of a work is given legal rights to control the copying and distribution of their work whether profit is involved or not.

Having said that, most camera companies do not object having their manuals available--it is free advertising after all. I was a technical writer for one Japanese camera company and when I pointed out that someone was selling CDs of our camera manuals and service manuals online, the manager of customer service did not care. The worst that will happen is you will get a note asking you remove it--there is no benefit to taking you to court, litigation against customers is not good PR and the cost makes it impractical. It is after all an instruction manual and they make money selling cameras.

I have learned a lot from the current litigation I'm involved with and agree with everything you said. Too many artists play Possum when their Intellectual and Moral Rights are infringed. All pro and hobby shooters should respect (and I suspect the majority does) the copyrights of their fellow artists. Too many people outside of the creative process just don't get it.

Dave, that was a favour I will not soon forget. !Muchas gracias senor! I purchased the 80-160 plus a macro lens 135/4.0 LS, a very fine specialised lens for a ridiculously low price. I look forward to visitig NJ and my cousin who is doing well with her second battle with cancer. I will look in on you and for sure I will bring my camera and it would be great to go on a field shoot with you.

Cheers,

RJ
