Lenses came...finally

So I have had my 645D since Friday but the lenses were shipped late. Today I got the 80-160mm and the 55 f2.8.

I just took some quick shots of my wife in the kitchem with a strobe. Focused on her eye. Focus was spot on with both lenses. The 80-160mm is slightly less sharp wide open compared to the 55mm...but still better than anything I have ever seen from my Canon L glass.

I can't wait to use this in the studio. My next shoot is scheduled for the 30th, I can't wait!

Shane, good to hear. I have the same two lenses. I am curious: what Canon glass are you comparing to? Just interested to see. My opportunities to shoot have been too limited to draw any conclusions yet.

My two sharpest lenses I own are the new canon 100 mm macro and new 70-200 f2.8 is ii. The macro wins hands down of these two.

I convinced my wife to let me do some head shoulder portraits with nice lighting after dinner. The sharpness is impressive. I also love the tone. I zoomed in again to my wifes eye and I have never seen detail in an eye like that unless the shot was taken with a macro at almost 1:1. Good stuff.

I also set the 80-160 up on a tripod and did some shots of my lens align. I ended up dialing in a -3. I guess I need to do some more testing with that lens to see how much it helped.

Now I wait for my 75mm f2.8 and hope I can find a 150 or 120 for sale at a good price.

If you have time, could you do a few low key shots and post 100% crops of the shadow area? Curious how well that works on the 645D...

You could always suggest you could get a cute model off model mayhem or craigslist instead

I actually have 2 models that I work with....but both are not available. I have no idea why my wife won't do this. She is very pretty but I think she gets overwhelmed by all the photos I want to take.
