How silly have 645 lens prices on ebay become?

645N with FA 75mm sells for $595.86 PENTAX 645N MEDIUM FORMAT CAMERA KIT W/ 75MM F/2.8 LENS - eBay (item 350426666705 end time Jan-03-11 13:55:28 PST)

But FA 75mm alone sells for $1,125.00!
Pentax-FA 645 SMC Lens: 75mm/f2.8 Auto-Focus - eBay (item 220715614587 end time Jan-02-11 19:15:04 PST)

Go figure.

I think some of the ebay prices are being inflated by fake bidders.

There were two 150mm f2.8 on ebay last week. One was a buy it now for $799 so I passed on it thinking I could get the other for around $600 at the very end. With one day left the price was over a $1000 while the other was still around. Both sold eventually.

Yeah that $75 going for $1000 is ridiculous. I bought mine from keh for $200 in EX condition.

not today either. However for people who can manually focus there are lots of 67 lenses at reasonable prices all usable with an adapter

I'm not surprised really, the medium format market has never been huge so it's not like 35mm where there are tons of used lenses out there
and I think a lot of medium format guys have held onto their gear limiting whats out there more

If I was to change my MF to Pentax it would be for the 67 so I'm less impacted by the silliness

The 645 & 67 prices ran me off

I was looking for a medium format SLR to replace my Yashica MAT124G. It looked like Pentax 645 or 67 was going to have to be what I got but it was going to cost me $400-500 at least for a 645N body and about $500 and up for each of three lenses.

A lead from a forum member steered me to a Koni Omega Rapid range finder. I just bought on ebay an M (latest version) with the standard 90mm lens and film pack for $150. Even if I have to spend another $100 - $150 getting it tuned up I'm stll way ahead. With two more lenses (58mm and 180mm probably), I'll still be under $1,000, or half of what a 645N kit would be.

It looks like so long Pentax for me.

mine was BGN because of a damaged filter. It was just a little chipped, still can use filters. Everything about it besides that was mint

About a month and a half ago I was planning on replacing my A*300/4 with the FA* version to supplement my 645NII system. Missed an auction that went for like 515 US and soon after the 645D started shipping. No used copy has since gone for less than 990.

Wow! That one had two fairly new bidders. I wonder if the seller will actually get payment. However if that is really what they are going for these days it may be time to sell my beloved 645n stuff. Eh who am I kidding I could never let it go. The 150 lens and extra backs yes, but not my 75 and body. Love the set up. Even if I never load another roll of film, I love the sound of the shutter too much. I also have a Yashica Mat 124 g I doubt I can ever let go either. I haven't looked lately to see what kind of price they are bringing in.

So is it the 654D that is causing this new interest in 645 lenses?

I'm sure it is the 645D driving the interest -- either directly by new or soon-to-be 645D owners picking up lenses. Or indirectly by speculators (phrasing that charitably) soaking up kit in the hopes of turning around and flogging it back to buyers at a steep markup a bit later.

I've been monitoring KEH stock levels for awhile and there was a clear inflection point where their 645 lenses basically evaporated in a matter of just a few days. They were down to a bunch of "A" 75 f/2.8's, and now even those are history. I waited a bit too long to make some acquisitions I was thinking about...

Same here. But then again, purchasing the 645D is a serious investment and it takes time to make such a decision. I wanted this cam as soon as it came out in Japan but also needed to find out first if it is really that good.

I don't blame those eBay guys or anyone else who is now trying to sell his FA lenses for good prices. I'd do the same.
