Debug Mode and Modset File of the 645D

Because we now have an official firmware update of the 645D, some more interesting information about the 645D is available

Could someone, who owns the 645D, please confirm:

1.MODSET-File to enable DEBUG MODE of the 645D is not protected with an 8-digits number (like K-5, K-r)

2. The name of the MODSET file is MODSET.487

3. Commands like "OPEN_DEBUG_MENU" are supported.

Would love to try, but I don't have any firmware-diving experience so not sure how to answer those questions. The download (OS X version) extracts to a README and a single binary: FWDC207B.BIN, which if opened in an ascii text editor reveals jibberish, of course. Not sure where to go from here.

Tim, you have to decrypt the firmware first, if you want to look into it.
You can use frmcrypt.exe from pentax-hack.info
Next step would be to disassemble it, and search for the strings.

But thats what others allready did for us

Somone with a 645D has to figure out that it works.
That is not a big thing, just to create a textfile, rename it to MODSET.487, and write a harmless command like [OPEN_DEBUG_MENU] in it.

If you see the debug menu, it was sucessfull, and the camera remains unchanged.

Got it. Bear with me, I'm new to this.

Doesn't seem to be working. I tried every button while turning the camera on. Tried both card slots.

Anything different I should try?

Hi Tim,

I do not have the 645D but I have the file that you can just copy in the memory card.
Then try it leaving the door card open.
If you need the file let me know where to send it in private message.

every one says use frmcrypt .exe, ok its command line, but has anyone used it, if so what are the switches. pls see attached pic, it is a win32 programme, thus i pasted frmcrypt in sys32 where cipher (mircosoft en/decryption programme) is located. but then cipher needs switches to run
see cipher usage possibilities Use cipher.exe for command line encryption - TechRepublic
but then hoe to use frmcrypt after installing, see installed screnshot. My question is who has used frmcrypt https://www.pentaxforums.com/forums/6-pentax-dslr-discussion/250555-resurrect...acking-24.html
