Pentax 645D lenses

Hi,

I am thinking of investing in a 645D given that I have a host of 67 lenses from 45mm to 300mm.

Firstly what would be the 35mm equivalent of using a 67 lens on a 645D?

What other lenses would you recommend mainly for landscape
photography using the 645D?

Thanks!

Welcome to the forum.

I believe that 67 lens are the same as the 645 lens in calculating their 35 mm equivalent, which is 2/3. For example your 67 format 45 mm lens would be 30 mm in a 35 mm format. The smaller 645D sensor results in a 1.25 crop factor, so your lens would be about a 38 mm equivalent.

Hope this helps,

Jim

Hartblei 45mm Tilt-Shift Super Rotator is excellent quality lens or 645D.

Equivalent focus length depending on the format you print. If you can afford the camera, digLloyd's on going (now 34 pages) 645D camera and (645+67) lens review + test on his paid DAP is a good start.

The only thing that matters is focal length. I will give you an easy way of visualizing field of view regardless of format. First find the normal focal length for the format--that is simply the diagonal of the format. In the case of the 645d, that is 55mm. Then just figure out the change in angular magnification but dividing the new focal length by that. A 110mm lens will have 2x magnification. A 300mm lens will have about 6x. A 27mm about 0.5x.

So if you like using an 85mm on 35mm (2x as 35mm normal is 43mm), then you will like 110mm on a 645d, 300mm on a 4x5, 40mm on a micro four thirds, 60mm on an APS-C.

I really think we should get rid of the crop factor. (Besides, real photographers didn't always use 35mm. )
