I've been shooting landscapes with the 645 side-by-side with a d800 and now d800e for a month now and find the Pentax files to be much better colorwise than the Nikons for landscape - I rarely have to do much in RAW to adjust the color with the Pentax files, but with the Nikon files the color is just not quite right and it takes a bit of work. I'm hopeful the shipping version of CS6 will do better with the Nikon files, but I could not be more happy with the Pentax files.

I agree with one thing - if you process Nikon NEFs in ACR (CS5), you get a pretty poor result initially. I use Capture NX2 for Nikon files and it does a fantastic job. If I could process PEFs in the Nikon software, I would. As I find the SilkyPix software issued with the 645D to be completely unusable, I'm a bit stuck with ACR and it's hard work making the files look good, imho. Raw Developer does a better job but is awkward, work-flow-wise.

Most folks agree that NX2 has one of the worst GUIs of all the RAW processors - it takes a special talent to like it, ha, ha! I've been doing the Nikon files in CS6 as I find NX so horrible to use.

I am not talking about landscape photography. The files I got from Venice last year were stunning, colourwise. I am talking about flash light or flash light combined with ambient light. I had a shooting in a library, we used ambient light for a big big room and needed flash for various situations instead of ambient light spots. HORRIBLE final colour results, absolute shit. I tried almost all wb modes. That day I also had my Nikon with me, made a few shots with it and: great results.
The post production cost me a day to fix the light probs.
