No, Pentax didn't offer a loaner. They only said that it had to be sent to Japan for repair.
I don't know about the laws around there, but you really shold crave a new camera. There's no reason to sit and wait for them to fix your camera, which obviously is faulty.

Спасибо.
I bought mine on April 26th in Tokyo. Been using it a fair bit but not excessively

Pentax Uk servicing (3rd party) are very poor at getting in contact. After a few weeks they hadn't been in contact in spite of messages, so had to get in touch with Pentax's head office. It will have to go to Japan, because they don't have the facilities to do anything other than test it in the UK.

The operations manager for Pentax UK has got on the case now, and is sending a courier to pick up the camera and says he is going to make sure it is sent to Japan on the quickest method and also he will check it regularly and update me. Couldn't give me a loan camera as apparently they don't have the stock.

I just bought a 645D and after 1600 shots similar problem came out...
Then I just formatted the sd card and did the pixel mapping.... Now there is not failure anymore!
Anyways, IŽll take it for check up, the camera at this level should not have this kind of issues at all.
Otherwise I love this camera.

I didn't try the pixel mapping. My camera was picked up yesterday to be taken first to Johnsons Photopia for tests (they are Pentax UK's service agent). I did format the cards though. It also appeared on the preview, so isn't related to SD card. Like you, I love the camera. My family want me to take photos of the nephews this weekend, and would rather be using the 645D, but will have to 'make do' with my Canon 5D mkII which is need of a service as it hasn't been serviced in the 2.5 years I have had it and there is some dust on the sensor, stubborn stuff that doesn't come off with the blowers.

I received the camera back from Pentax last night, nearly two months after it was sent for repairs, with a note saying that the sensor had been replaced. I haven't had time to try the camera out yet, but hopefully this weekend.

My 645D is apparently on its way back to the UK. They have cleaned it and tested it and replaced the sensor. Pentax UK have kept in touch with me pretty well. Could get it back some time next week

Kodak sensors have more than their fare share of issues like this.
I remember the issues I had with my Kodak DCS Pro/n back in 2005. At the time it was Kodak's cutting edge 13.8MP sensor. Any amount of contrast would create purple fringes all sharp edges. It didn't matter what lens I used either.

I assume after this much time Kodak has gotten better.

I have my 645D back in my hands! Have taken a few shots within the house without card inserted and all seems fine. Fingers crossed it will stay that way!
