Very nice summary. I have been shooting with CZJ Pentacon 6 lenses on a Pentax 645 and 645NII cameras for a number of years now with very satisfying results. I should caution that it was quite difficult finding an adapter with parallel mounting surfaces, and went through several East European and Chinese samples before I found a good one. It is amazing how far off some of them were. Also, one must accept stop down operation.

If you really want to use Pentacon 6 lenses, I would suggest getting a Kiev 88 CM or Arax CM, which is actually a Kiev 88 CM that has been improved through various modifications. With the Arax CM, you can get a through the lens metered prism (spot and weighted), 6x6 size, rather than 6x4.5, and automatic aperture operation.

Another course of action is to adapt Pentacon 6 lenses to the Pentax 67 by rebuilding the mount end of the lens. I have adapted the Carl Zeiss Jena 120/2.8 Biometar, and the 180/2.8 & 300/4 Sonars to the 67 mount. All 3 lenses have large enough image circles for the 67 format. Like the 645, it is stop down metering, but the film size is 67, rather than 645, to me, well worth the effort. The adaptations are reversible for the 120/2.8 and the 300/4, meaning you can recover the P6 mounting if you wish, but with the 180/2.8, the alteration is irreversible, as structural parts of the original 180 lens must be altered.

Best, Alan
Hi Alan,

Would you be kind enough to let us know which adapter is the good one and where you found it?

Cheers,

I´am not Alan but I made the same experience.
At last I bought my adapter P6-> Ptx645 from Mr Beier at Freiburg (Germany). Mr. Beier (Beier Foto) has a well reputated repair shop for P6 -stuff. It is east european origin but I think he checks them before selling (price about 30€)

I bought my Pentacon Six -> Pentax 645 adapter from DVD Technik in the Ukraine. It feels like good quality and attaches the lens to the camera without fuss, although I'm not really expert enough to say if it is perfectly made.

Thanks for the request but there are two hints:
_ my poor english language skills (I´am from Austria not from Australia )
_ I ´am a Ptx 645N user. My Ptx645 is a substitution for my former (broken) Pentacon Six (P6) and I use all my P6 (and in future my Hassy) lenses on it. (My single Pentax lens ist the A 3.5/35mm) So I have some experience with it - but zero with Ptx67.
But I try to incorporate the Ptx67 in my next list.

Czj 180 2.8

I have recently started working with a CZJ 180mm 2.8 via a no-name adapter I picked up off flea-bay. The adapter is very tight but it seems to work all right. I'll post some images when I get some of them developed.

Great rundown on this topic veraikon !

Anyone try adapting one of these on their 645D?

Zeiss F-Distagon C 30mm f3.5 lens for Hasselblad 500CM, 503CX, 501C cameras | eBay

Looks like a monster. Wonder if IQ is any better than the A35?

I had heard that Pentax is making a 2nd gen 25. If they get rid of some of the CA's I may go for one.

Arsat makes a 30mm/3.5 fisheye for Pentacon Six mount (earlier versions are called Zodiak-8B), spec-wise that's pretty much the same as that Zeiss, but much cheaper and easier to adapt to Pentax. Might even be as good if you get a good copy.

Being fisheyes they aren't really that comparable to the A35, though I suppose you can de-fish the images. (And I haven't tried any of these lenses.)

Thank you for this long list of opportunities.

There is only one small thing where I do not aggree:

......Pentax 67 lenses to Pentax 645
Pentax 67 lenses have a FD of 84.95mm
It is not “third party” so Pentax offers directly an adapter. The aperture of the 67 is automatically stopped down during the exposure, but the aperture value is not communicated to the camera. ..........
The aperture value is properly transmitted from the lenses to the camera by a mechanical simulator slider (which many people miss inside the small Pentax DSLRs), but there is no transmittion of a aperture value from the camera to the lenses --> no A-mode.
Measurements in M-Mode and Av-Mode work fine
