Does the Nikkor-P.C M39 lenses will cover the 6x4,5 film size? Or blur and vignetting in the corners?

Thank You for your answers!

Maybe one to add to the Pentacon Six mount offering is Dennis Ivanichek's wonderfully engineered remake of Joseph Petzval's classic 1840 portrait lens....120mm f/3.8......(I have #75 from the production run)

I just received a DELTA adapter that was made for the AERO EKTAR 178mm f/2.5 (taken out of WWII era aerial camera). It appears to be made for an M39 camera mount, but since the camera mount is not permanent I am trying to have a camera plate made for the Pentax 67 mount so I can use it on the 67 bodies as well as the 645 bodies (via 67-645 adapter).

Have any of you ever tried the Distagon CF 30mm (fisheye) on a 645D/Z? Looks like that Hasselblad V adapter would make it work for our cameras.

I really want a wider lens but the price of entry is still pretty steep for me. I saw a the 645 25mm go on sale used here which sparked my interest but then I was it was $4000 and I just can't do that now. I've seen that 30mm on eBay a couple of times and wondered how it would do. Anyone know? There's one on eBay now for $2500 and I saw an auction that had ended already a while back that was closer to $1500.

With those wide 645 lenses so expensive I could just get a K-1 and 15-30/2.8 and save about a grand. I realize it's not the same but it could be close enough.

Or would this one use that same adapter? Price looks pretty good!

I might be willing to be the guinea pig on this if it looks like it would fit.

You might also consider the 'Russian' copy 30mm Arsat via a Pentacon 6 -> Pentax 645 adapter. Quality control was inconsistent with ex-Soviet camera gear, but "good" ones were actually not bad.

My widest Pentax 645 lens is a 35mm A lens and the 30mm Arsat is significantly wider, but with fisheye distortion.

It's night time now, but I'll try to take some sample shots tomorrow and post them here.

Thanks!
Well, I bought the Zeiss. My widest lens is also that A 35 and I love it but want to go wider sometimes. Looking forward to getting my hands on it!

Here is a description on the Zeiss web site. I assume it is the same although the action doesn't use the CFi initials I don't see anything else that seems like the same one. I'll find out soon!

Congratulations on purchasing the Zeiss 30mm. It should perform well on the Pentax.

Here are some sample images from the Arsat 30mm fisheye and the Pentax 35mm A on my Pentax 645D.

Arsat 30mm fisheye view.

Pentax 35mm A view.

100% crop from upper left corner of the Arsat image. I was trying to focus on the shrub in the foreground. As you can see there is some color fringing and sharpness is not that great, but my focus could have been slightly off as well.

Size comparison of the two lenses.

And the Arsat mounted on the Pentax.

Cool thanks for posting those. Looks very similar to the Zeiss although I'm hoping the optics will be better.

Very nice summary. I have been shooting with CZJ Pentacon 6 lenses on a Pentax 645 and 645NII cameras for a number of years now with very satisfying results. I should caution that it was quite difficult finding an adapter with parallel mounting surfaces, and went through several East European and Chinese samples before I found a good one. It is amazing how far off some of them were. Also, one must accept stop down operation.

If you really want to use Pentacon 6 lenses, I would suggest getting a Kiev 88 CM or Arax CM, which is actually a Kiev 88 CM that has been improved through various modifications. With the Arax CM, you can get a through the lens metered prism (spot and weighted), 6x6 size, rather than 6x4.5, and automatic aperture operation.

Another course of action is to adapt Pentacon 6 lenses to the Pentax 67 by rebuilding the mount end of the lens. I have adapted the Carl Zeiss Jena 120/2.8 Biometar, and the 180/2.8 & 300/4 Sonars to the 67 mount. All 3 lenses have large enough image circles for the 67 format. Like the 645, it is stop down metering, but the film size is 67, rather than 645, to me, well worth the effort. The adaptations are reversible for the 120/2.8 and the 300/4, meaning you can recover the P6 mounting if you wish, but with the 180/2.8, the alteration is irreversible, as structural parts of the original 180 lens must be altered.

Best, Alan
Hello Alan,

I am just getting into medium format photography - waiting for the 645 to arrive. I would like to use P6 CZJ lenses, but from what I understood from the post above, there won't be infinity focus, right? Any advice on which adapter works best?

Thank you

I've got a Hartblei P6-P645 adapter which retains infinity focus with CZJ (and other) lenses. It seems well engineered and manufactured .....at least when comparing it to an earlier one that I had (unknown parentage).
