645D Rentals (yes they do exist)

Yes... there is such a thing. Ace Photo, in Ashburn, VA offers a 645D as well as a full range of lenses for rental.

Ace Photo Inc. | Online Store | Order Pentax 645D From An Authorized Rental Dealer Page 1

The body is $500/day and the lenses range from $85-200/day. Biggest catch is the substantial deposit required ($10K on the body alone).

But let no one say you can't rent one of these beauties.

Mike

disclaimer: I have no attachment or relationship with Ace Photo other than as a customer.

You can rent in The Netherlands and Belgium as well. It comes as a body with the 55mm lens.
Verhuur Pentax 645D + 55mm F2.8 AL IF | Foto Konijnenberg
The Dutch shop is near the German border, so when living nearby that is possible.
Rent is 250 euro for one day and 50 % discount on the next day.

You have to pay a 1500 euro deposit.

When I saw the title I thought "that would be cool, I could never really afford a 645D but I would love to shoot with it for a day". Then I saw the price. So maybe I won't be shooting with it for a day. Wonder what they charge for maybe 10 minutes?

PS

Hmm the 250€ rental is IMHO within the price range if you rent a MF equipment. Itīs mainly an offer for pros who earn their money with photos and the rental fee is priced in the project costs. Itīs not for decission finding of amateurs Perhaps Pentax will in future arrange a 2-3 hour loan within inhouse-fairs or photo events for nothing or some symbolic fee for charity projects. (As far as I know Leica (Camera+ lenses) and Zeiss (lenses) is doing similar. I used it for a Zeiss 2.0 /100 Macro Planar ) PS I hope I found the right word for "Hausmesse" - "inhouse fair ?" .

The shop I shoot video for, The Camera Store in Calgary, Canada, rents the 645D for $300 with a 55mm lens, with just a $300 deposit. Check it out if you're local.

For the Aussies - West Aussies in particular - pretty sure Camera Electronic have a rental 645D along with a H4D-40 they've had for ages.
Team Digital have Phase One systems for rent, not sure if they've added a 645D yet.
