Pentax 300mm f4 A* with 1.4 X extender

I tested my 300mm A* today with and without 1.4 X Dedicated extender. I am very pleased with the sharpness. Shutter priority at 1/400 sec. Camera selected f13 (reads f9 in data because of extender). First is a small jpg of entire frame. Second is a crop at actual pixels with 1.4X on the lens.
Best
Dave

Thanks. Interesting that the camera should the right f-number with compensation with the extender but the exif data does not.

Thanks for the post Dave, and for sharing the shot. The DA300mm f/4 is a lens I have been contemplating on getting with an extender, but I always seem to wait just a little-bit longer in hopes that a FA*300mm f/2.8 will show up. Oh well, dreams are nice.

I made an error in my statement. I used shutter Priority at 1/400 sec. Without the extender the EXIF data shows f13. With the extender, the EXIF data shows f9. Both apeatures were camera selected. I did not bothre to post shots without the extender, because, quite frankly, I could see no difference in sharpness at 100%. I did not use mirror lock up as I was manually focus following as the boat moved. I did use lock up on a stationary object, but at 1/400 I saw no difference.

I think maybe you are getting confused. This thread is about the A* 300 on the 645 format.
