Not fixed

So, here are the results after CRIS claims to have fixed my camera by what they vaguely call recalibration. Before the "repair" there was a sensor split of color and density in the blue channel . After the "repair" its in four different areas and not in straight lines anymore. I cant even fix the files in photoshop anymore. This is worse than dealing with the few remaining film labs and my good old 67ll bodies which i sold to get the promised digital medium format , which it turns out sucks and pentax usa and cris arent , so far actually able to fix or replace the bodies. Just thought id pass it along in case anyone else was thinking of wasting 10K..........

can't you go back to the shop and say the product doesn't work as i should, and so you want to be refund ?

If the product doesn't work and can't be fix since the very begining, you can legally ask to be refund.

Yep, I'd take it back and ask for a refund... I bet it's frustrating, but judging by the other 645D images I see here on PF, you've been unlucky.

Send it back to the retailer, citing the "Warranty of Merchantability", which is part of the part of the Uniform Commercial Code that is applicable in all states. If the retailer does not want to take it back, dispute the charges on your credit card indicating that the product you purchased does not work and you want to return it for a refund. The camera does not work and Pentax is unable to repair or replace it, therefore I wish a full refund.

With mine the camera went back to Japan and they replaced the sensor completely. Touch wood, no problems since, although I do find that mine tends to be quite erratic on the metering

I have only had a sensor split of very extreme exposures and processing and that has not been consistent--ISO 1600 at 3 minutes and huge contrast boost of a subject with uneven color. I think you are unlucky. I do not think I wasted $10K.

But Pentax should make this right. Asking for an entire refund may give them more incentive or at least your money back.

Instead of a refund, can't they give you a new camera? I would demand that and make a stink about it.

+1

And the Pentax Store has them in stock--or at least listed as in stock--so there is no reason not to get an exchange.

You should have the phone number of a Pentax 645D rep; give him a call.

Hope everything goes well with the replacement.

Folks here at the forum probably already are aware of this, but for guests that are just passing through: this kind of issue is not limited to the 645d. It occurs on more expensive backs from P1 and others as well. For an example, reference a thread on the getDPI forums titled "Another bad IQ180 back? Please NOO" (no direct link provided, as I'm a little fuzzy on the posting rules here).

I'm not a Pentax apologist by any means, but I just thought I'd point out that this unfortunate problem occurs across brands.
