TTL flash for 645.

I'd like to get a flash for the 645. Does it use the same TTL as the new digital SLRs. Can I get one flash for the 645 and a K-r if I get one?

The 645 uses TTL flash. The new DSLRs use P-TTL flash.

The current Pentax flashes like AF360FGZ and AF540FGZ support both modes and can be used on the 645 as well as on a Pentax DSLR.

Older Pentax flashes do not have P-TTL.

What you need is a TTL flash for the Pentax 645 and 645N cameras. If you have a 645NII you get to use P-TTL.

The K-r only supports P-TTL.

As Ole noted both the AF360FGZ and AF540FGZ support P-TTL and TTL so you could use them on both cameras.

The Metz 48 AF-1 (and presumably others of the same generation) supports the old TTL as well.
