Using 645D with pocket wizards

hi,

I just got the 645D a few months ago and I just started to shoot in studio with strobes using pocket wizards,
I was wondering if the camera needs to be on the "x" mode to use with pocket wizards, I tried on manual mode
but the camera doesn't trigger the pocket wizard. I would prefer using it on manual, maybe i'm not doing it right.
Any help?

I know I can use an Eyefi card to shoot kinda tethered, is there any news on having the camera plugged in real tethered?

cheers,

Make sure you set shutter speed to 1/180 or below...the strobe pulse doesn't go out if your shutter speed is higher...

Use the eyefi and shoot smallest JPG + RAW. There is a 3rd party tethering app for Pentax cameras that works w/ the 645D IIRC...

Some versions of the device can indeed transfer raw files. The speed at which it does so, of course, is another matter! I won't comment on that since I haven't tried it yet.

I just did a shoot with my 645D and used the Pocket Wizard and the X sync, only way it would fire. 125th/sec is what you'll get, but with studio lighting no worries anyway right?

Sorry to imply that you should set the eyefi to transfer RAW...set it to transfer JPEG *only* or it'll be glacially slow :-)

So have the 645D take RAW+ smallest JPEG. Get the eyefi to transfer the JPEG file only (probably 6MP?)...should be reasonably fast...

Hi there,

I am interested in tethering for the 645D and I was wondering whether you could tell me a bit more about the third party software you mentioned.

Is that the PK_tether? Can you please confirm it works for the 645D?

Thanks
